BTW, people's panties are in a wad because they think Bernie's a socialist, yet I have not seen any criticism here regarding his public statements as they apply to outsourcing and foreign investment. These activities destroy the middle class in general and American jobs in particular, yet it appears as if the biggest problem they have is not that they don't disagree with those opinions, just that they 'think' he's a socialist.

This is bad news for the labor movement who likes to gin up fear, but the "middle-class" should be just fine.

I appreciate you pointing out he self-identifies as a socialist. Now I'm up in the air again. I really don't want to vote for Hillary, my Republican (Christie) looks like he's done. I guess that leaves me as undecided again.

As for your comments regarding the service economy, my experience is that we are hemorrhaging those jobs. I know of a very large financial services company that has outsourced many of their customer service jobs to the Philippines. Financial reporting has been outsourced to India. All entry-level accountants hired in the US now require executive approval (waiver). Their reinsurance department has been best-shored to India and the executive retired.

All but the customer service jobs require at least some college and many of them require degrees. This is why recent college graduates can't find jobs.
PS: none of these people belong to a union.

Again, disruption is not exactly pleasant for everyone. Some may need to learn new skills. But protectionism is never going to work, you can only cheat gravity for so long.

I would be careful that your "experience" isn't your predominant source of truth. History is a much better predictor of future results.

Please qualify "presidential enough". Is there a rating system I'm not familiar with? Does it directly correlate with one's ability to make sound decisions and be diplomatic?

Here is the whole mess in a nutshell. Shocka khan, in an earlier post, listed every "flaw" of every Republican candidate. These "flaws" have been repeated over and over again, so much so, that nobody really knows what any of the candidates stand for. Republican candidate "A" throws his hat in the ring and immediately the Democratic party trashes him or her, labels them a loon and the press jumps on the bandwagon. We are left with all candidates being labeled unelectable long before the first caucus or primary.

On the flip side, we have Hillary. Her email problem, Benghazi problem, her cattle futures problem, her Clinton Foundation problem, on and on and on, no problem. Hell, she bombed in her Scooby Doo van tour of Iowa, wouldn't talk issues, hid from the press and got panned hy Iowans, but she gets to do it again, no questions asked.

I guess my biggest concern today is how one sided the reporting has become. Historically, the press has always been liberal. And that's fine, but Brinkley, Chancellor, Hunt, Cronkite and the other great journalists would be embarrassed at the one sided reporting of today.

There is an inherent problem with maintaining a Capitalist Democracy. None of us will live long enough to see this come to pass.

Capitalism is pretty much based on the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer. Maximizing profits necessarily requires minimizing payrolls. The number of people "getting poorer" tends to grow faster than the number of people "getting richer".

If the "getting poorer" group ever decides to actually vote, they will control the country, and they will vote for Socialism.

A lot of what Conservatives despise as weaknesses in our national policies are things that have kept the working class appeased. Conservatives are currently surviving politically becaus they appeal to the socially conservative population, which is also a large portion of the working class. If those people ever change their voting habits from morality issues to financial issues, the USA becomes a Socialist country.

I guess you don't watch Fox News or read Breitbart or Drudge. Today's news allows the consumer to create their own reality. You could even start getting your news from Alex Jones, but I'd suggest getting fitted for a tinfoil hat first.

He's had the R (not Republican) charge thrown at him too much. He's hired people with ties to those racist organization and then had to fix the problems that inevitably cropped up. That baggage and the perceptions that come with it will make him a hard sell to your average African American.

I like him because he's like his dad, who was my representative four about 4 elections. His dad was a damn good, straight-shooting Congressman who valued his constituents over Party orthodoxy. I don't always agree with him, but I agree with him more than most. Plus he's his own man, unlike, say, Cruz and Rubio.

So I have really never paid attention to Bernie Sanders, so I decided to look up see what he is about. Bernie Sanders stance on the issues (all comes from the NYT, PBS, campaign site).

Foreign Policy - Opposes any U.S. intervention in the world. Most of his family was wiped out in the Holocaust - they were polish. Thinks ISIS should be contained by those countries who fund ISIS (i.e. Saudi Arabia). He is for Obama policy to strike a deal to allow Iran to have nuclear weapon. Even though Bernie says he is jewish, he is not a strong supporter of Israel (I suspect he not really Jewish, but is a Edomite), but recognizes Hamas as a terrorist organization. He also agrees with Obama policy on punishing Russia.

Environment - think the U.S. should take the lead on reducing carbon emission to stop global warming. He want to provide funding for studying "carbon sequestration" in the hopes of slowing the rise in global warming. Has sponsored a bill for a tax on companies based on the amount of their carbon emissions.

Homosexuality - fully supports it and believe the U.S. Supreme Court should intervene and declare the bible null and void in it definition of "marriage".

Religion - Does not believe in religious freedom of Military Chaplains. More restriction on public display of religion. Is a big fan of Pope Francis (would like for him to address Congress).

Abortion - fully supports abortion.

Family Values - Fully supports family values. Believe all workers should be guaranteed 10 days payed vacation and 12 week of universally paid family medical leave for those who chose not to abort their child.

Immigration - strongly supports Obama actions on illegal immigrants, but opposes the U.S. guest worker program because it allows foreigners to take U.S. jobs. U.S. should quit deportations.

Health Care - Believes private health insurance should be replace with a single-payer Medicare health care system.

Economy - Believe the U.S. government should increase it deficit spending to generate jobs. Believe the minimum wage should be doubled from $7.25 to $15. U.S. government should focus on infrastructure rebuilding. He believe in breaking up the Nations largest banks because they have become to large.

International Trade - He opposes Obama trade deals (and after yesterday, him and his party did officially make Obama a lame duck president when they deserted Obama on his trade program votes).

Taxes - Believes the U.S. government should increase taxes. Taxes should be increased for those who pay taxes and bigger refunds for those who don't pay taxes.

Education - if states don't adopt the federal governments mandates on education they should lose all federal funding. Want to provide $18 billion dollars to state governments to allow them to cut tuition. His ultimate utopian goal is all public college and university educations would be free.

2nd Amendment (gun rights) - his position really is not clear as his words and voting record don't mesh on both side of the issue. He voted against the Brady Bill. Voted for the big black scary rifle ban, but then voted to allow big black scary rifles to be carried in check bags on Amtrak. Has professed states rights on the issue but has then contradicted by his votes on certain issue.

Domestic Surveillance - He voted for the Patriot act and says believes "domestic spying on the electronic communications of American citizens has been justified", but is also now against the Patriot act.

You just proved my point. Fox is the ONLY "conservative" broadcast out there. THE ONLY ONE. On the flipside, you have ABC, NBC, CBS, MSNBC, CNN and even PBS on the left. You label Drudge and Breitbart as internet news but fail to see the absolute mudslide of liberal internet sites polluting the web.

The onesidedness of the media is appalling, you shouldn't even bring it up. That said, I don't care about liberals running the media, I just wish they would report honestly, they don't.
