    • The left has now put together their talking points. It took a day, but Morning Joe rolled it out and now their is a left wing tweet storm parroting this, along with it being brought up on several news feeds. Here is the left’s explanation:

Russia colluded to get Trump into office, which would weaken us. Trump ****ed everything up, just they planned, now, with Trump out of office, the inva.... oh screw it, the whole thing is beyond banal.
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

Ah, so you're saying instead of "Bush's fault" it's now "Trump's fault"?

        • The left's delusion is incalculable. And I will even grant that I'm not sure anything that Biden did would have prevented this, but it sure as **** isn't on Trump.

But there is no doubt that we would not be propping up Russia by importing their oil if Trump was still president.

          • BTW, I have been listening to BBC radio the last couple of days for a European viewpoint. Had a Russian "Academic Expert" from Moscow on this morning. He justified the invasion by claiming Ukraine was Neo-Nazi and practiced genocide against Russian speaking Ukrainians. They cut him off with out a goodbye or thank you for coming

Yikes. Guess he saw what the US media was putting out and figured, "Hell, if they went for that, surely they'll accept this explanation too."

Kremlin says Russia agrees to talks with Ukraine

                https://www.nytimes.com/2022/02/25/w...ine-talks.html

Russia says it won’t enter talks until Ukraine stops fighting.

Like I predicted; Just a little hot gas from Putin. Let's hope Ukraine quickly agrees to future neutral status. Then we'll secretly bolster their neutral military to unforeseen levels.

The United Nations' human rights office says it has received reports of at least 25 people killed and more than 100 injured in Ukraine due to "shelling and air strikes."
The U.S. can see worse numbers than that from practice drills. Some eastern regions of Ukraine are majority populated by Russians. Texas arguing with Oklahoma over riparian rights. Nothingburger.

Trump certainly reset the bar to new lows with respect to political discourse in this country. He's also on record of threatening a nuclear strike ("They will be met with fire and fury like the world has never seen"). Putin did the exact same thing yesterday ("Whoever tries to hinder us, and even more so, to create threats to our country, to our people, should know that Russia's response will be immediate. And it will lead you to such consequences that you have never encountered in your history,"). It's not beyond the stretch of imagination that Trump has fanned the flames of testosterone-fueled dictator dreams a bit. Nationalism, which Trump promoted, is a favorite tactic of dictators. It all boils down to an excess of 'mean words'. Words precede action.

This country - this world, needs to evolve towards less aggression. We need a common enemy to unite against. We need... aliens.

                    • It's interesting that most of Ukraine seems to want to be a western styled democracy, instead of the traditional eastern styled authoritarian country. That seems to be true of most of the former Soviet satellite countries (Poland, and Baltic states). They seem to want it more than some of the traditional western styled democracies, although Germany is a little different and has had mostly authoritarianism in their history.

The best part is that Xi and Putin back down when confronted by leaders like Biden who show less aggression. He's playing 7-D chess.
