(CNN)This is what presidential leadership looks like.

As President Donald Trump ignores America's slide into a tragic winter and obsesses over his false claims of a stolen election, three of his predecessors are volunteering to bare their arms on camera to build confidence in the vaccines that could finally end the pandemic.

The effort by former Presidents George W. Bush, Bill Clinton and Barack Obama, which was reported by CNN's Jamie Gangel, is sure to infuriate the current commander in chief. Trump is claiming the lion's share of credit for the unprecedented speed of development of several vaccines -- despite his neglect of other aspects of the public health disaster that has killed more than a quarter of a million Americans.

The former presidents are stepping up as America plunges into its toughest battle against Covid-19 before the new vaccines, expected to soon be approved by US regulators, bring deliverance. But there are few signs that the current President is ready to call on the nation to muster for one last fight against the worsening pandemic before the immunizations become available to most Americans.

A great first step towards our recovery. We need more celebrities pushing the vaccine charge. Where are they?

The mayor of Austin, Texas, urged his constituents to "stay home" on a video call from a timeshare in Cabo San Lucas last month where he traveled on a private jet with eight family members and guests, according to the Austin Statesman and KVUE.

"Stay home if you can ... this is not the time to relax," said Steve Adler in the video, which was shared Facebook on November 9.

Adler kept the jaunt under wraps until local journalist Tony Plohetski broke the story Wednesday afternoon. The Democrat then confirmed the trip to Mexico and said he also hosted a wedding for his daughter the day before flying out for his vacation. Plohetski reported that 20 people attended the celebration.

Elections have consequences. Hard to feel sorry for anybody in California, because they did it to themselves. The rest of the country is right behind them. If the Kansas legislature hadn’t stood up to gov., she would be doing similar things.

Dr. Fauci, Birx, and the task force came up with a very reasonable plan from the beginning. It was for each region to reopen gradually as the positivity rates dropped. Trump offered his blessing on television and then went into the closet and Tweeted totally contradictory information. As expected, half the country followed the task force's guidance and we never made much progress.

Unless your kid is a retard, he should actually be doing better at home than in school. Self-directed learning is VASTLY superior to classroom environs where the lowest common denominator drags everybody down with him. If he isn't finishing his homework, beat his ass. If you'd prefer a less corporal route, take him down to skid row and have him look at all the people sleeping in boxes. Tell him if he doesn't finish his homework he'll be living down with them someday.

If you are one that has to work outside your home, but your kid isn't in school, then that is a real problem and I sympathize.

There is a reason communities close schools. People do get sick. I talked w/ a school administrator a few months ago and she said tons of her teachers are out sick. So the science isn't exactly perfect on how this spreads in schools.

The ideal situation is for little Johnny to do his homework online while mommy/daddy do their office work at home as well. In a semester everybody starts getting back to normal. Well, things didn't play out that way in the U.S. because we didn't have cohesive leadership and the White House was infected with conspiracy theorist wackos. We've had half-ass compliance from the start and we're having half-assed results. And the rest of the world is laughing at us.

This is precisely why you have a lot of people who aren’t complying and don’t trust the government and question Covid. The idiots in charge are inconsistent and arbitrary. They talk out of both sides of their asses and people are tired of it. They shut things down with zero evidence of any spread and they allow those who they like or are influenced by to do whatever they want. This is why you have resistance. It’s not that people don’t think it’s real or aren’t willing to do their part. It’s because our leaders are incompetent dumbasses.

How can you justify hundreds upon hundreds of people in a Home Depot, Walmart, or target but not let 50 people in a restaurant that holds 200 with outdoor dining. Stupid!

Trump and his lifelong followers have backed themselves into such a tight corner with Covid Denial that they are forced to desperately invent new windmills to tilt lest they be left with no other alternative than to just say out loud that Covid does not exist... or worse, admit that it does.

It takes a little character, but you would feel so much better if you just admitted you were wrong and accepted reality. Then you could start putting the pieces back together and move forward with your life in an informed and rational way. Think of it like cleaning your room, only its the room in your mind.
