The whole "head pointing" thing is BS. Lawrie is just using it for a reason to justify being pissed. HE could have prevented the whole thing:
- AE was NOT over the bag
- There was NO double play to break up
- Slid cleats up, high, into the leg
His teammate, Kazmir did him zero favors too. The Royals have been hit 14 times this season. No matter how many were/weren't intentional, they are getting fed up.
Teams appear to be trying to intimidate the Royals and/or don't like their exuberance. Whatever it is, it's not working. I love the "us against the world" attitude they are playing with this season and the energy and passion for each other they have carried over from last season.
Baseball is fun again in KC. While they were never my favorite team growing up, I can say that I LOVE watching this TEAM play. The Assman

WOW. This game has changed. It wasn't that long ago that little leaguers could go hunting to break up double plays at second base, could wear metal spikes, could run over catchers on plays at home plate, etc. It's all so politically correct, but not the game that I know (remember). Maybe its better but I'm not sure.

But so was wearing 96 in the back the next day.

The problem is the unwritten rules. Or what used to be unwritten. It was accepted back in the days, you hit one of our guys, we hit one of yours, and that's it. So that's the situation we had Saturday night. Then Herrera goes and chucks a 96 behind Lawrie. Granted, Kazmir hit Cain, but there's a big difference between hitting somebody in the foot and throwing behind somebodys ribs.
The game is definitely changing, and I've yet to decide if it's for the better or not. I still don't get how Oakland got out of this with no discipline. Unreal.

What also contributes to the problems is that players use social media. Players, media, and non-participants get on the Twitter and won't STFU. Lawrie's slide was a bit dirty and he should have (and would have) taken his medicine by wearing a pitch the next day. Instead he has teammates spouting off and the whole thing escalated.
I do agree with Huerrera getting suspended, although 3 days would have been plenty and Kasmir and Lawrie should have been reprimanded. Kelvin should have thrown that pitch at Lawrie's wallet.Basketball Season Tix since '77-78 . . . . . . Baseball Season Tix since '88

Kemnitz didn't get suspended for the season - he was suspended for a number of games (and several MVC schools attempted to violate his civil rights, until the lawyer got involved)
The child molester was not in the batter box - but he wasn't on the on-deck circle either.
moral of the story - when somebody does something stupid, before you ever open your mouth to the media - consult council. Media will distort and take anything you say out of context.
