If by everybody you mean A's fans and clueless fans, I agree with you. Nobody really knows the thoughts of Herrera in that game, and it's all just speculation otherwise. That's almost as ridiculous as Lawrie's statement that Escobar was on top of the bag.

Nobody? So you're calling his teammates and coaching staff and fans nobody? Because they sure think he did no wrong. The stupid idiots that decide MLB punishment think he did nothing wrong, but those guys have been clueless for years anyways.

Makes no sense that the guy that started all this got nothing, yet Ventura, who was just following the unwritten rules, got fined. Go to Sunday's game. Kazmir, who stirred it up again by hitting Cain, should have been immediately ejected and ultimately fined. Somebody has it in for the Royals this season and it's getting unbelievably sickening

That said, there were mistakes made by Royals players. Ventura should have kept his mouth shut after plunking Lawrie. It would have been over at that point. If Herrera really wanted to respond to Kashmir hitting Cain, it should have been an off-speed pitch at the feet. The jawing on his way off the field was too much, too. I don't know which explanation is true, but he put it out there for interpretation. The five game suspension is fine, and he knows it. The appeal is to give Holland time to get over the pec strain, so they aren't without two of the HDH trio.

What is bothering me more out of all of this is the bigger picture of why KC players have been targeted. It seems other teams don't like the way the Royals "play the game", which is code for, stop having fun and celebrating after a good play. This idea that players should just jog around the bases, walk into the dugout with a couple of high-fives is silly. It's not like the whole team is going out and meeting players at home plate. (I wonder what they think of how college players "play the game"?) Maybe guys like Albert Pujols are just jealous of others who have fun while they win.
I agree with your first statement 100%. As for Ventura, I dunno, maybe I just see it different, but it looked like all he was doing was retrieving the baseball after he hit Lawrie. If there was more there, I missed it. Yes, Herrera was out of line. I still don't agree with a 5 game suspension, I think 3 was more than adequate, but the fact that Kazmir and Lawrie got nothing just slays me. I mean really, how clueless are the people at MLB offices to not discipline them? Kazmir opened up the fire on Sunday by hitting Cain, after both teams had already been warned. He should have been immediately ejected. The umpiring crew did a very piss poor job of managing the situation. Greg Gibson, the home plate umpire on Sunday, is a clown who should never work another MLB game again. And while I like Jim Joyce, his actions on Sunday have made me lose some respect for him too. I don't blame Yost, Eiland, or Escobar, or Wakamatsu for getting tossed Sunday. If I was there, I probably would have been ejected from the stadium.

Ok, rant over. Again, somebody, well actually, a lot of somebodys, have it in for the Royals this season, and it's getting sickening to watch.

I'll be at the stadium tonight.

Got comped tickets in one of the sky boxes. Should be a good time.

Guthrie is kind of spoiling the fun.

Plenty of time to put some runs up though.

By the way, you need to heckle louder. I don't think Pelfrey can hear you.

Another benches-clearing brawl that appears to have been started by Ventura saying something to Eaton as he jogged to first after a come-backer.

There had been two hit batters and some jawing between the teams leading up to that, so we won't know exactly what was said by who, but I'm growing tired of Yordano's inability to keep his mouth shut.

                    • Ok, well, after a replay it's quite obvious that Ventura dropped an f-bomb on Eaton.

                        • Ventura needs to miss his next start. Maybe two. He's going to get his teammates hurt if he doesn't learn to keep his mouth shut.

                          • Now the announcers are saying Eaton may have started the verbal fisticuffs.
