Solomon Butler (born in Oklahoma but raised in Wichita) was the first black Kansan to compete in the Olympics in 1920 Belgium. He twisted his ankle before the Broad Jump event and finished 7th. But his qualifying jumps beat the winner by a foot and a half.

Miles Ukaoma (Maize) competed for Nigeria in the 2016 Rio Olympics in the 400 meter hurdles
