If you actually look at the actual T-storm watch, you will see it only sliced through the very eastern part of Sedgwick county.

Due to lack of technology development with the NWS infrastructure, the T-storm watch gets listed for all of Sedgwick county, even though 80% was really not in it. The same happens for Tornado Warning. The yellow parallelogram is the actual watch.

      • And I'm in Butler County. If eastern SG was included, I was most definitely included in my location. So again, an absolute nothing.

Just because you have a Tstorm watch does not guarantee that u will get storms. It just means the conditions are right for either large hail or high winds if a tstorm does develop.

I believe the Tstorm Watch box did verify with the warning that were put out for it. The primary threat seemed to be wind.

I get that. Just saying it's been quite some time where we've had one and actually gotten one.

That is definitely true. And a tornado watch/warning even longer. But this spring seems to have picked up across the state and May/June is peak

Through the same period in 2021 Kansas had:

                  Wind Events: 8
                  Hail Events: 7
                  Tornado: 0

                  For 2022 so far:
                  Wind: 57
                  Hail: 42
                  Tornado: 11

And SC Kansas has even had some wind/hail events (2021 to this point it was 0)

To be fair, when it blows 70 mph for a month straight, that should only be counted as 1 wind event.

I’ve decided to keep my winter fat on, because I don’t want to blow away.

                            • Speaking of Severe Weather - Friday has popped up on SPC's long-range outlook. Usually, when this pops up so far out this is something to monitor with the realization that it will change, but it is likely there will be an outbreak somewhere. This looks to be a classical dryline setup across the plains. If it comes to fruition this is something we haven't seen for a couple of years. Of course tomorrow it will move east of the turnpike.

                              • That’s the best looking day 5 outlook I’ve seen a long time. I think in over 5 years.

It’s not perfect but I wouldn’t want it to be perfect at 5 days out because as SB alluded to, it is gonna change.
