Just heard a rumor that Margo Pruis is the new pitching coach! Any truth to this?

:goshocks: she would be a good one if she learned anything from coach Jaime.

I have no idea. Margo is certainly one of the best names in Shocker softball history and it is always nice to have alums return as coaches, etc.

She apparently has been play professionally for a couple of years in 2008 and 2009

...and looks like she completed her first year in coaching as a grad assistant at Middle Tennessee State this year:

Check her record last year before you jump to conclusions.

                  Whose jumping to conclusions?

I'm not sure a grad assistant can really have a record. They generally do a lot of grunt work and a lot of observation.

In any case MTSU's ERA was 3.18 in 2010 vs 3.24 in 2009. I doubt Margo had a whole lot of impact one way or the other in her 1st year as a grad assistant.

Is she ready for a D-1 pitching coach position? Who knows, I certainly don't have a clue.

Maybe she will join the Shocker staff as a grad assistant. Maybe not at all.

I was simply pointing out what she had been up to since graduating.

I didnt realize that Margo was a grad assistant. If so, and we hire her, then our coaching staff will consist of a volunteer assistant and a grad assistant. Not sure that is the way to move a program forward. Not a lot of coaching experience not to mention recruiting experience.
However, I stand by my first statement that if she learned anything from coach Jaime, she could do a good job for us.

Amber was an assistant coach this past year. She was a volunteer assistant at Drake.

Right, but what I meant was that Pooch will have hired a grad and a volunteer to form his staff. Again, not that they can't do a good job, but if my job were on the line, which it seems his is, I would want to bring in the most qualified help I could get.

Exactly. But then if he hires someone that may know more than he then what would happen. You get exactly what you deserve if you don't hire the best for the job. WSU alum or not. Hire a winner it tends to rub off.

The last time someone told me the pooch was gone, I found he was just in the dog house.
