Since she started her coaching career, Jody Adams said she looked at many schools and wondered what might be the right fit for her as a head coach.
As an assistant at UMKC and Southern Illinois, she looked at Wichita State as one of those spots. She was named the Shocker women's basketball coach this afternoon at Koch Arena.
"Wichita State was one of those places," Adams said. "To be able to be here and be the next head coach, I'm very blessed for the opportunity."

She has been to the mountain and that to me bodes well for the next recruiting class. Maybe I'm riding the wave of relief and am looking forward to the yellow kool-aid but I think we'll see an immediate return.
Welcome to Wichita.

From watching the news conference sounds like she'll want to run and gun which means my wife and I will be buying some more season tickets. I do like how she hinted at adjusting strategy and tempo to fit the players abilities as she begins her tenure.
Very positive...

There can't be too many coaching staffs younger than this one. The Murray State website doesn't list birthdates, but if you assume they all three graduated at around age 23, they are really young. By my math the top three coaches will have a combined age under 90. The top two assistants have very little experience. I am excited by the hire, but I am hoping that a whole lot of youthful energy can make up for a lack of experience. I agree with Dr that it would be wonderful to be looking for a new coach in a few years after this one moves on up the ladder.

Jody has good experience, and the rest will be under her tutelage. Jody will be 38 on December 29th. That was a substantial increase in salary from what Jane made.
I don't think I would be so fast to assume she will be moving on that quick, she might just find her niche here, and like it here, after all, we have some of the greatest fans anywhere, and a great facility, and we are a state university.
We were one of her 'spots'.
And no matter what anyone says, Wichita is a good place to live, all things considered.
I know Coach Marshall does, but does anyone know if Jody will have access to a jet for recruiting purposes?

As someone said earlier, this fits the mold of a more typical hiring by Jim Schaus then did Coach Albright. While Jane's resume looked strong, she had just been let go by Wisconsin, and Jim has tended to be attracked more to young up and comers.
This hiring was definitely off the radar screen or at least on the fringes.
The staff is young, but my hope is Jim has found himself another Chris Lamb.
This first year will be tough for Coach Adams as she is left with the remnants sans 4 Seniors from a team that is used to losing and sometimes losing badly. It is unlikely she will be able to add much recruiting wise at this late date, although that remains to be seen. Hopefully, she can keep Kayla Rice and Halieigh Lankster in the fold.
Personally, I'm not expecting a big turn-around next year, but I am looking forward to signs of an improved approach, signs of some player development, and for signs of hope for the future. I would be surprised and very happy with a 0.500 record next year, although not really anticipating that. But I would like to see some progress during the year and from year to year in steadily building and maintaing a strong WBB program.

Yes, I believe she was with Jane Abbright throughout Jane's 5 year tenure at WSU and was with Jane at Wisconsin. Although that was clearly an error in the Murray State article.
