Should buy her next season which she probably would have had anyway.

I am okay with Keitha being our coach. I am not okay with the amount she is being paid given the results. Thanks Darren.

Congrats ladies! My bookie was right; he said, put all your money on the Shockers.

I think she was coming back next year (the final year of her current contract) before this win. But whether or not she gets a new contract or not is another question. I can't see extending her existing contract. If they want to agree to a new contract to replace the existing contact either immediately or to take effect after next year that might happen depending on what adjustments HCKA would be willing to agree to.

Now if the team manages to make it to the NCAA tournament then the odds of that happening obviously go up. In any case, the contract terms need to be restructured with a lower base salary and more emphasis on performance awards.

No. 8 Wichita State Stuns No. 1 South Florida, 65-53, in Quarterfinals of American Women’s Basketball Championship

            https://theamerican.org/news/2023/3/...mpionship.aspx

It is the first time in the American Championship’s history that a No. 1 seed suffered defeat (previously 27-0).

The AAC is not that old but with the UConn women ruling the roost for most of its existence
I guess this stat is not too surprising.

This was also the first time this season that the Shocks have won 2 games in a row in AAC play. You would not have expected that to have involved South Florida.

I was hoping for SMU. Houston can really ugly up the game with there aggressive defense but it is also quite effective. Houston has won 8 of their last 10 games including handing South Florida its only regular season loss 71-69 in Tampa and beating the Shocks 62-55 at home in the regular season finale. Houston's only losses were 44-45 at home to Memphis and 83-88 at ECU in triple OT. So they are as hot as anyone in the AAC heading at this stage.

If the Shocks can beat USF they can beat anyone in the AAC (and they also can lose to anyone in the AAC). This will be a tough challenge especially holding up physically against Houston's high pressure defense in their 3rd game in 3 days.

Happy to see the Ladies celebrating but that's enough. Now focus on conserving your energy and on what it will take to beat Houston.

                      Memphis 48-46 UCF
UCF was ahead 28-16 at the half but could not pull off their own "shocker"

East Carolina 35-24 Tulane at halftime

You and about a kajillion other folks. While I didn't make an absolute statement that their season would end that is what I thought was the most probable outcome.

Still a real long shot for the Shocks to win 2 more. Houston has been playing quite well down the stretch and it will take another A game from the Shocks to extend their season beyond tomorrow.

Shocks and Houston play at 4:00 pm tomorrow.

You have that ECU-Tulane hafltime scored reversed. ECU led 35-24 at the half and ended up winning 69-58.

The Shocks are the only lower seed to advance to the semi-finals.

I am here for this one today. Every worker wants to talk to me about us being the "talk of the tournament" lol. They have always been a very friendly staff here. At least all the times I have interacted with them the last couple years.

Anyway, playing with house money. Proud of the ladies no matter what.

What kind of crowd is there. The arena looked pretty empty for the USF game yesterday.
