Shocks hanging in there. Leading 41-39 at the mid-3rd quarter media timeout.

Ladies are TIRED. Gonna have to dip into the reserve tanks to finish this one. If there is anything left in it.

Yes, indeed. Shocks trail 47-49 at the end of the 3rd quarter. Got a break on a Houston foul a rebound on their end of the floor with 0.3 of a second on the clock. The Shocks were in the bonus and Sham knocked down both free throws.

As shockerfan (who is in attendance) is reporting the Shocks are tired. What do they have left in the tank? We are going to find out.

This one feels like it may be slipping away. Shocks down 53-61 with 5:45 to play and nothing is going right for the Shocks. Jane and DJ both have 4 fouls although neither are playing particularly well anyway. Houston on a 10-0 run over the last 2 minutes that included 3 Shocker turnovers.

Really good effort by the Shocks but I think they just hit a wall and are out of gas.

Nothing to be ashamed of. They fought hard. Just didn't have enough left.

Will be back tomorrow to cheer on the men

                  Final: Houston 72 - Wichita State 64.

Both HCKA and Steve Strain hinting that WSU may not be done this year. I doubt they are a candidate for the WNIT. More likely the CBI or the WBI or whatever the other options are.

Normally I would say pass, but it gives the returners a few extra practices and games and a chance to see how far this momentum can carry forward.

                      • East Carolina is the AQ from the American. USF will also be in the Dance.

                        East Carolina 46-44 Houston

Crazy, crazy stats for this game.

                        Combined,

                        FG: 37/128 for 28.9%

                        3PT: 1/20 for 5.0%

                        FT: 15/34 for 44.1%

Indeed. But perhaps not too surprising considering these two teams are by far the best two defensive teams in the AAC and they hang their hat on defense. I think it also shows what happens to your shooting when your legs aren't there. Basically, conference tournaments are inherently structured to produce less than stellar play by the time teams reach the championship where they are playing their 3rd, and possibly 4th game, in as many days.

                            • South Florida is an Eight Seed, and East Carolina is a Thirteen Seed.

EDIT: USF plays 9 Marquette in the opening game and then will surely find Overall One South Carolina waiting for them if they win. East Carolina plays 4 Texas. All of these seeds are within one of the four pods.
