ISU have three acceptable pitchers. McLeod is one of them. Maybe we get a runs-ahead win and maybe we don't.


Three up, three down in the Shocker second. Lainee, Taylor, Mila. With one out, a double and a hit batter create a threat for ISU. A single loads the bases, and another single drives home two runs. A walk loads the bases again. Sigh. Another single and another three runs - with a throw to the wrong base in there? Another single and Alison is in the circle with runners at second and third. This is a team that could not hit its backside coming into this weekend. What's up with Lauren? Alison gets a groundout. 7-5 Shockers after two.

Three more Shocker outs. Eleven in a row for McLeod. A one-out infield single but nothing more for ISU. Still 7-5.

After two outs, Mila stops the consecutive-out streak at thirteen with a single. Sydney lines out, and we move to the bottom of the fifth.

Another infield single starts the Redbird fifth. Alison gets the next three outs with a stolen base with two outs. 7-5 after five.

Three outs in the Shocker sixth. Now four three-up, three-down innings for the Shocks. An infield error with two outs, but Alison gets a K, her second of the inning. 7-5 after six.

Sami opens the seventh with a double. Lainee reaches on a fielder's choice with Sami advancing to third. A ground ball in the 5-6 hole? A dribbler towards the circle? Taylor's groundout advances pinch-runner Avery to second, but Mila grounds out to end the threat. 7-5 as we go to the bottom of the last.

ISU has a one-out single, the third hit of the day for Standish. Strikeout, groundout and we have a ball game. Outstanding job by Alison.

The Shockers had a couple of doubles, Bailey and CC had two RBI each, but the real offense was the six walks and a hit batter in the first inning.
Alison pitched 5.1 strong innings, giving up just three hits and striking out five, a lot for her.

She has really struggled starting the last half of last season. Was not good at all in the fall.

Bredbenner can’t afford the luxury of a .053 average in the 9 hole with no McKinney or Lucas in the lineup. I would look for others to get a chance soon if this doesn’t change this weekend.

I don't either, but this lineup needs a little more punch. I'm not sure who's available or who could be moved where to make room, but it's something to keep an eye on.
