Ugly start in the first. Two walks and a single, but the runner from second is cut down at the plate for the third out.

With one out, Addison doubles and Lolo walks. After a runner-advancing groundout, Sami drives home one with a single, and Camryn singles to drive home another. Shockers lead 2-0 after one.

A single and a two-out double and Houston gets one back. A single and another out at plate ended the inning.

Mattie Boyd (17.2 IP, 7.13, 2.72) is on to start the second for the Cougars.

Singles by Krystin and Sydney, a stolen base by Syd, and a throwing error scores Krystin. Shockers lead 3-1 after two.

Bailey replaces Lauren in the outfield. Lauren hurt a little? Struggling some lately?

Is that why they switched Addie to center? Lauren has pretty much started in center all year and started in center in yesterday's game. She moved to left and Addie moved to center in the top of the 4th yesterday and they have kept that positioning in today's game. Addie's outfield instinct do appear to be much better this year.

I'm not sure. Also oddly, Lauren got subbed out this inning after her at bat. Maybe some sort of leg strain? Less ground to cover on the sides versus center.

In the third, three up, three down for the Coogs. Finally. The Shocks follow with three groundouts. Still 3-1 after three.

Yeah, with Bailey Urban having subbed in for Lauren that's a pretty strong indication that Lauren may be dealing with some kind of infirmity.

Let's hope nothing too serious. With Zoe on the shelf and Lolo only 1 for her last 10 at bats losing probably our 2nd best hitter and top run producer would definitely not be a good thing.

Haven't been watching until just now. Looked at a replay of that play at the plate in the 1st. Fortunately, the Shocks outfield was playing shallow against that hitter. It was a good strong throw from Addie but maybe even a better snag and tag by Lainee as she got a very tough in-between hop to handle.

I thought the throw on the play at the plate in the top of the 2nd was better and Lainee also made a snice sweep tag on that play.

BTW, Addie between her last bat last night and her 1st bat today missed two home runs by a total of about 1 foot. Both ball hid very hard but more on a line. Had they been elevated just a little bit both would have left the yard.

Yup both of those throw outs were perfectly placed throws and beautiful swipe tags. Great execution by both.

Similar with the second assist by Addie. Shallower and the throw is all the way in the air to nail a speedier runner.

Feel like the announcer jinxed us the last two games. Last night he started off saying how WSU rarely makes errors. Then we turn around and make an error. Today he started off talking about his few walks Howell gives and she's been walking a bunch today lol.

In the fourth, an error by Lo, a walk, and a sac bunt has runners in scoring position for Houston. Another walk loads the bases. Sigh.

A sac fly scores one, and a double scores two more - all unearned. Cougars take the lead, 4-3, in the middle of the fourth.

I think Steve’s a good dude, but he’d give ole "Boom goes the dynamite!" a run for his money…
