Lambo's Radio Show - Monday, August 30th
Revolving door right now at the setting position. The polish setter as been out with a pulled groin muscle. Very close competition between Lauren, Kayce and Hailey. But Lauren has had the best stats in practice overall.
Lauren had not set in a match since her junior season in high school. Lauren maybe got a bit rattled against Arkansas State on Saturday and Kayce came in to save the day an played very well..
Felt good about the win over Missouri State.
flyingMoose's question came up (sort of). Sophia has been nursing an injury. Not playing at 100% in terms of her power. Kind of holding back right now. Have spent about about 90% of their time on the 5-1 piece (the setter on the front row). Not sure it was asked that clearly or answered that clearly.
Talked about Kailin Newsome. Thought that playing her all-the-way around starting during the 4th set against Arkansas State went a long way to turning that match in the Shockers favor.
Morgan Stout had a foot injury last year that required surgery. Would like to get back with Natalie at the M-2 position. Lauren was flying under the radar on her club team because they were one of the best club teams in the country. Lambo says that Morgan Stout is made for the M-1 position and he would like to get to the point were she is a regular at that position with Natalie taking more time at the M-2.
Lily probably got the Tournament MVP because she was the most consistent player through 3 matches on the winning team. But she is still a work in progress but she is improving. My opinion is that A-State's Macey Putt was the most valuable player for her team of any of the 4 teams in the tournament.
IMO somewhat of a ho-hum show and report.
