  • If I remember correctly, GS Dad is a Coach. He may already be a glorified Paul Miller. He has the work ethic to keep getting better. Kerry can get help him become very, very strong. He has a nice shooting touch and can score. He lives within a mild roar so his family can easily come to games. We need quality height. With him and EO, we finally have our quality caliber Twin towers that I have been nagging about. As we march our way futuristic to the Elite 8----we will look better at airports then the days of Eddie Fogler when we had Dugger and Mendleson, and we will be much better off on the hardwood as well. Count this FSF cat IN!!!!!!! I hope we sign him.

    • You need to read this!!! This is an article from an interview of Bill Stutz, Garrett's Dad. (Picture of the family at the bottom).

Just makes me want Garrett all the more.

        • Wow---this is all very rich quality info, both the article and the video. From a sports standpoint, it helps me to remember that basketball is a team sport. The journey can be incredible if the players put the team first and strive to do their part to help their team be successful. From a life standpoint, it was a reminder that sports, etc. is not as important as where we choose to spend eternity.

          • This kid has the parental support that many don't. He would be a great addition to this program as would his family. Having a kid that has grown up around this can do nothing but help a team out.

Plus it looks like he has 2 younger brothers. Maybe they will be 7'ers and follow their brother here too.

              • I wouldn't expect him to commit this weekend. But I'm pretty sure he wants to sign early so I'd expect to hear something in the next couple weeks.

                • GS will be a quality player at this level. I truly really hope we sign him. His foundation in both life and basketball appears to be top-notched. These are type of fine young men that help build a successful Team Program that is something for us to be extremely proud of. It appears Coach GM has done his homework as always.

                      • Regardless of whether WSU signs the young man or not, he certainly does have a good support system with his family to help guide him in his decisions and life!

They sure sound like quality people!

                        • I think we can pretty much remove Stutz from any stereotypes we may have about KC-area recruits.

Now that I've learned a bit about his family I can see why KSU got crossed off the list pretty early. There may have been factors other than "no D1 coaching experience".

Wherever Stutz ends up, he's likely to take a level head and a good set of values with him. He's going to be an asset to whatever school signs him. Probably on the court and certainly in the locker room and off the court.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.

                            • Is it Stutz as in Shoots, or is it Stutz as in Putz?

                              • I came across an interesting post on a UK message board. According to the poster, he heard that during his visit to UK, Stutz went up against Sampson III and got the best of him. That could be the real reason Gillespie pulled Sampson's offer. But it's interesting that an offer was not extended to Stutz.

UK is now looking at Aziz N'Diaye at Lake Forrest Academy in Illinois. This tells me that Stutz is the back-up to the back-up plan for Kentucky.
