Bigs take a little more time to mature. An extra year may not help him at the beginning, but will make all the difference in the world after that first season. Think what Paul Miller and Stutz could have accomplished during their Shocker career if only they had been able to have a redshirt year.

AM's experience is playing international rules. He's going to have to learn American rules. He's going to have to learn American styles of play. He's going to have to learn Marshall's system. He has to learn to live in a different culture and environment
then there's the biggie. He's going to have tyo leanr how to play according to American officiating. As I understand international rules enforcement, contact in the lane is pretty much what anyone venturing near there should expect.
I expect a lot of good things from AM, but I will be amazed if that appears on the court next year. He will definitely be able to contribute next year, but probably in practices more than in games. There are things AM can provide in practice that make the post players better in games. He doesn't have to have a stat line to contribute next year. The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

Having Rauno around to help him adjust could be huge, hopefully Asbjorn will be able to benefit from his experience making the transition. Its a good landing if you can walk away, its a great landing if the plane can be reused the next day.

He has been playing against D-I level competition (or better) with a number being past D-I players. With Morris, Willis, Nurger, and Kelly all graduating, he'll be seeing some playing time next year. Assuming he stays, Hamilton is the big man I'd like to see RS next year.

But yes, you can see him listed taller and heavier on various other websites and links.
For example, this site lists him at 6-11, 264.
Personally, I am more concerned with how athletic and skilled he is than whether he is 6-10, 6-11 or 7-0 and in that regard a little lighter weight my actually be better. In terms of measurement his wing span and vertical jumping ability might be just as important.
Even his own Coach stated that he is working on getting more speed into his game, know that this is the limiting factor to his development as a player. Clearly bigger is not always better if speed is the key factor.
The team website also has a team photo. Number 10 next to him is clearly shorter, yet they list #10 as 6'11". They also give Asbjorn's age as 18. I'm not sure what stats on that website are correct.

Yes, he will need to learn American ball and Marshall's system, but I feel he will be better served getting some NCAA game experience. Unless you believe he'll be ready to take on a major minutes roll the following year without that experience as the other help at the 5 will be either Hamilton (if here), a raw JUCO, a raw freshman, or a quality grad transfer if you want to count on that happening.
I'm not saying he won't RS (way above my pay grade), I just feel he'll need to be on a fast track for playing minutes and that may have been how we were able to recruit him in the first place.
I stand by my statement that Hamilton (if staying) would be better served RS next year and saving that junior year for when the log jam is gone.

His competition and age will help a lot. Look at how much Rauno has improved this year...remember Paul Miller from the middle of his junior year on. For the other old guys here, do you remember Zarko? He was a 6'10 center in the early '80's who was the guy that had his name chanted to get coach to put him in at the end of a blowout. By the end of his career he was very good. For some nice memories....watch the whole thing. Great dunk by Carr, but watch Zarko run the court at the end.
