Great point BOBB. Have to have cautious optimism. Something to me (at least) suggest a different mold from the past this time. Obviously it takes time to be broken down into the Marshall system...but this big man seems to have the potential as a "ahead of the curve" type BIG for implementation. Not Kentucky type instant impact...but rather one of those "Wow...what an addition!!!"

    • Both newcomers, along with CJ Keyser, SHOULD redshirt next season.

Next season's team will be vastly the same as this season's team (as far as major minute players are considered), barring someone exploding onto the scene or a untimely/unforseen injury occurs.

They should use that freebie season to bulk, grow, and learn; while preparing for the mass exodus in the Summer of 2018.

      • CJ Keyser reminds me a bit of David Kyles. He's really athletic and will be a solid contributor but he just has too much talent in his class.

Big guys tend to take a couple of years to become impact players. Hopefully Asbjorn's developement will be accelerated by playing against a much higher level of competition than your average high school big man. I think he could be a solid role player for us next year.

The one thing I wonder about is his mobility. A lot is asked of the Center in man to man defense against a ball screen offense. I haven't seen anything on video to tell me if he has the agility to hedge and recover well enough to stay on the floor. Time will tell I suppose.
Its a good landing if you can walk away, its a great landing if the plane can be reused the next day.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean. Care to expound?

This is where my expectations are as well. Regardless of his talent, he's young and will have to adjust to a new culture, a new school and a different game that he's used to. There will be a curve -- but he should be able to contribute off the bench next season.

Has Landry and Austin in front him. Third freshman guard, I'm guessing.

In a lot of circumstances, he would be a heavier contributor, maybe even a regular starter. He's got a couple other guys in his class that are going to take most of the minutes at his position and he may be relegated as a career backup, ala David Kyles.

Oh ok. Got ya. I think he will end up playing quite a bit of the 3 alongside those guys, and Landry can also slide over to the three if they want CJ at the 2. Either way, it's a damn good problem to have.

More like Zach Brown in front of him.

He'll play the 3 with LS and AR.

Coach said on Monday that CJ only knows the three right now and they are teaching him the two.

                        • When Kerry R. got Claudius Johnson and John Smith in the gym on a regular basis, they were crazy strong. Looking forward, A.M. has quite a base for starters to build from. Yikes!!!!!!!
Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

As steelshocker posted much earlier KR may focus "...on athleticism, explosiveness, and flexibility. All while maintaining his current weight." I have confidence that KR will accomplish all four goals (improve athleticism, explosiveness, flexibility and strength) which means AM will be a major load for Shocker opponents in the coming seasons.

That may be so, but I'm sure he played a little 2 on Tuesday as at one point, there was only one other player on the floor for WSU that could have been considered a guard.
