Southeastern Illinois over Paris Texas 63-57. Both teams were led by their main go to guy, Andree Wilson (18 points, 6 reb) for Southeastern and Erick Tramiel (15 points, 6 reb) for Paris. Tramiel is a 6-7, 225 lb sophomore interior player and is uncommitted for next year. Andree Wilson is a 6-4 forward sophomore from Jamaica. I haven't seen anything on him indicating he is committed for next year.

Three Rivers 83- Eastern Wyoming 70. Leading the way for Three Rivers were Jeff McClain, a freshman and Baylor commit Artem Valov. Both the main guys for Eastern are sophmores and looks like both are uncommitted, Casey Robinson(20 points) and Scotty McRae (18 points).

I put my scouting report for Clevin Hannah in the Hannah topic. Now for my report on the game.

Seward played excellent defense. Chipola didn't have as much success driving the ball and they clearly don't function well in a traditional half-court set. When they couldn't take it inside, lots of passing around the perimeter until a PG would drive it or Mitchell tried to create a shot. Mitchell does look like a pretty good SG. Good looking shot, well-built at 6'4" (listed) and fairly athletic.

Chipola couldn't keep from fouling Seward. On the way home I heard Seward made 40 FTs. As a result, several of Chipola's better players were in foul trouble (Little, Flowers, Teel, Alvin).

In the 2nd half, Hannah left the game around the 7-minute mark and didn't come back in until well under a minute. They could have used another 3-pt shooter on the floor. In the overtime Chipola needed 3s badly to catch back but they kept driving it down the lane. So I question several of the coaching moves.

IMO, Heiar is under-utilizing Jon Kreft. He's a mobile 7-footer with some nice post moves. But they used Joey Cameron more instead of Kreft after Flowers fouled out.

6'9" Darko Cantspellhislastname for Seward is a player. Hit three 3-pointers, has a nice baby-hook (but he missed most of them). Runs the floor well and is quick for his size. The only drawback I saw was that he looks indecisive in the buffet line.

All in all it was a pretty good game. Much, much better than the previous game of NE Okla vs. Shelton State, mainly due to the intense defense both teams were playing. It had a D1 NCAA feel.

Darco is a stud. A bit of a talker, but a heckuva player. He schooled Chipola tonight.

I was surprised Kreft didn't play more. I was fairly impressed with him as well. Don't know why Hannah was out of the game so long. I think they played better for the most part when he was in the game.

Who was #33 for Chipola? He looked like he'd be a good SG. He had a nifty little spin move for a three.

And #10 for Seward was a pretty good little player. I think he made half of Sewards FT's .

I agree with Royal's assesment of the game. I guess I was under the mistaken impression that Flowers is one of the hot shots on that team. That kid really needs to grow up. He spent most of the game on bench with foul trouble.

Chipola's #33 is Casey Mitchell a freshman from Savannah, Georgia. 26 ppg, 8 reb, 5 assists, 3 steal and 2 blocks per game as a HS senior. Georgia Atheltic Coaches Player of the Year.

Seward's # 10 is freshman Reggie Chamberlain. 20 points and 6 assits per game as a senior at Raytown, Mo. Was all-state 1st team.

Chamberlain was very solid for Seward. Actually reminded me some of Hannah. Similar size. Quick. Very good from the line.

I spoke with some of the assistants that were there and they told me Mitchell is a very high-major recruit. He actually looks some like former Shocker LJ Goolsby. Very solid build but a much better player. Strong. Good touch.

Oh...and clearly no bashfulness about shooting!

I thought I had read that "Darko, the Serbian" committed to Texas Tech? The rumor floating around the arena tonight was that WSU was in his final 3... not sure who the other 2 are? Could be just a false rumor or maybe someone spotted Marshall visiting with him? Regardless, I hope it's true... I was very impressed with the 6'-9" Serb.

In my opinion, losing early has actually benefited Marshall and his staff... they have been looking at numerous players and building future relationships.
                            :good:

"The Cinderella season continued for the Seward County Community College men’s basketball team on Tuesday night as the Saints won the NJCAA Region VI Tournament championship with a 71-61 triumph over tournament No. 1 seed Cowley College at Wichita State University’s Charles Koch Arena. Sophomore Darko Cohadarevic was named the tournament Most Valuable Player after leading the Saints with 25 points on 11-of-17 shooting and 10 rebounds."

                              From ESPN on March 13:

Texas Tech coach Pat Knight landed the Red Raiders sixth commitment, and third junior college player, for the class of 2008 when Darko Cohadarevic pledged, according to the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal.
