Before wiki one had to own an entire book case of encyclopedias. Yes, they were more accurate, however there was far less information, and if one was so lucky as to own all of this knowledge, it was only current at the time purchased. As a for instance, I often used the home library to write papers, but Gerald Ford was the last president listed, and Bill Clinton was the sitting president when I graduated high school.
OTOH, I was viewed as much more intelligent in the pre-wiki days as I could spout off any old BS and my oposition had no reference material to demonstrate my ignorance.Livin the dream

If there aren't citations, just take it with a grain of salt.
However Colbert's war on Wikipedia and creation of Wikiality, such as when he saved the African Elephant, make me very happy.Originally posted by BleacherReportFred VanVleet on Shockers' 3-Pt Shooting Confidence -- ' Honestly, I just tell these guys to let their nuts hang.'

Good point. If we put all of our off-topic forays in the Off-Topic forum we would have to move that forum to the top of the list is it would very likely have the most volume of posts.
The random tangents do serve some purpose however. They provided some indication that for the time being most everything of interest on-topic that can be said has been said but the random tangents keep threads alive and on the front page until something new on-topic comes up.

Whatever random tangents we can get into in this thread should be celebrated; if Humphries signs his thread needs to be longer than EO's. Gotta start sometime.Originally posted by BleacherReportFred VanVleet on Shockers' 3-Pt Shooting Confidence -- ' Honestly, I just tell these guys to let their nuts hang.'
