With Connor Frankamp committing yesterday, I, for one, would be curious as to whether we are still interested in Mr. Mulder. It looks like we're pretty full up at the guard position (and perhaps that's why he attempted to jump the gun and announce his verbal commitment, much to his coach's dismay).

Now that we have a lot more clarity on Frankamp's situation, it would make sense to me that our coaching staff may have been trying to make him aware that Connor could be falling into our lap.

Of course, I could be wrong about all this and we may still be recruiting him. Perhaps someone else who's a little closer to the program and is more aware of our recruiting situation(s) could provide some clarity.

    • Mulder could start next year at the 3.

That's kind of what I'm thinking. IMHO, Wessel will start at the 3 and Mulder will back him up. Mulder will start his Sr year.

Disclaimer: For the benefit of all of the fact police - This post has a lot of speculation in it.

No one knows for sure but I'm sure we are still recruiting him. Baker could also play (and he has) the 3 as can Brown, Wessel, McDuffie, and maybe Shamet too. I think it depends on the NBA, on the development of players, etc. as to whether we give him a final offer. But I may be crazy.

I'm in agreement with this. We are flush at the wing guard (2/3) position. Baker/Wessel/Holland/Brown/Frankamp/Shamet/McDuffie That's seven guys that consider the 2 or the 3 as their primary position. Maybe Frankamp is considered as a PG, but he, Taylor and Henderson can all play some 2 guard as well as the point. Obviously not all of these guys are going to be on scholarship at WSU next year.

Sounds like this kid will play at the 3 a bunch for us next year.

                      • No need to be confused, b&g -- all you have to know is that WSU's coaches always have a plan, complete with however many contingencies are needed, and that things always work out.

                        • Mr. Mulder had me at hello. I would be elated for us to sign him. Cotton will be a handful to replace when we consider his total package. Thus, here is a player that could ease the pain.

                          • I'm excited to see McDuffie on the wing. I hope he doesn't end up at prep, though I know a 6-8 wing that won't turn 18 until September could use another year.

If McDuffie did spend a year at a prep school, we'd have to be 100% certain that he would still want to play at WSU and not get homesick. I think we'd be okay as long as the prep school was Sunrise.
