Who knows? Once upon a time Perry Ellis was being talked about as a one year visitor to college, also. Hard to know what the landscape will look like a year from now, but if there's any possibility of his playing for WSU the Shocks have the right coach and staff to bring it about, as well as the X-Man personal connection in the background.

Wish some of those young guys believed that too.

            • Only takes one... It is really illuminating hearing these 5 stars that end up at Kentucky say that they decided they wanted to play for Cal as soon as they watched Derrick Rose play for him at Memphis.

It's why Antoine Carr is STILL my favorite ALL-Time Shocker.

                - Home grown
                - Could've played anywhere
                - Stayed home
                - All-American
                - 1st Round Pick
                - 8th overall
                - Played 18 Seasons in NBA

Gregg Marshall's trajectory. Shocker now national brand. It's all there for a 5 Star!!!

Still in MVC conference....arrrgghhh!!!! Kills it.

Got to get in that AAC conference asap

No offense to FVV... But him playing on KU or any blue blood is not going to change your draft status whole lot... There is lots of good KU point guards that never sniffed the nba... So I think his dad is a bit mistaken and maybe unappreciative of how well that 3G has developed his son.... Again no offense to anyone

I agree that his dad is mistaken, not so much about Fred being NBA capable, but about why he is being overlooked. I don't think it has much to do with the college he plays for, but instead is about two factors:

                      1. The NBA draft prospect rankings are often established before players ever set foot on a college campus. I've said before and I'll say it again, but the recruiting services/star ratings are far more about projecting guys for the NBA than for college, so if you weren't a 5 star recruit coming out of high school, you have an uphill climb to get drafted, regardless of where you go to college, and if you were a 5 star recruit, you have the inside track to getting drafted, regardless of where you go to college.

                      2. The NBA has a bias against drafting shorter players. There have been plenty of successful short point guards in the NBA, but it makes it really hard to get drafted if you aren't tall, especially in combination with first point. Yogi Ferrell is a good example of why this isn't about school affiliation. In spite of being at Indiana, and in spite of being a highly ranked high school recruit, he isn't getting much love on draft boards mostly because of his size.

His stepdad bascially said if Fred played for KU or UK he'd be considered a high end prospect.

Agree wholeheartedly. But the "perception" (even from the father who follows Fred and Wichita St.)...is almost impossible to overcome. Want to play in the NBA??? ...must go to a P-5 school. At least that's what most 5-stars believe. It's bs and I hate it (perception).

Having said that...I'll take Marshall's recruiting over most any day. Their just tough awesome kids who work hard, do it the right way and are 100% anti-prima-donna. Love it!!!!
