Hold on, monster. If he transfers (with a release) at the semester, wouldn't he then be eligible second semester next year as well? So he'd have a year and a half left, and since most teams play at least 2/3 of the games after the end of the first semester -- including, of course, all the games that count most: the ones in post-season play -- he'd potentially be a worthwhile addition for someone. Or at least could be, depending (as wsushox1 said) on why he's leaving. At 6-8, 220 he isn't a center, of course; but he could be a useful PF.

He'll latch on with someone. As to his ability, his strength is with his back to the basket. He looks like a Carl Hall clone (straight from NWFJC).

http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=415&f=2850&t=12165653 Not a lot of insight on the Marquette message board. The only speculation was that he wanted to play the 4 and not the 5 or that he was not going to get a lot of playing time.

Speculation was that he was 5th man on the 4-5 totem pole.

                    About that speculation...

WSU could certainly have some time available at PF next year, but doesn't anyone who wants to play PF need to have a face-up game? If McKay is mostly a back to the basket player, he's primarily a C by the nature of his game, not by anyone's choice. On the other hand, if he's too low on the totem pole, maybe a transfer redshirt year or work and improvement is just what the doctor ordered.

As to whether he's a fit for WSU, the coaches know that better than I do, but this illustrates why it's nice to have a scholarship available "just in case." Marshall knows his business and he's earned our trust and then some, but I personally like it when the team I root for only has 12 guys on scholarship. That's plenty to fill up 200 minutes and even redshirt someone along the way, and it leaves a spot open when the right sudden transfer comes along, as happens more and more these days.

If you look at the video above, he appears to have plenty face up game. My question is whether he would face the same situation here as MU, namely a school that would need him more at the 5 than at the 4 (since with the losses of Coleby and Lufile that is where we will be thinnest).
"Cotton scared me - I left him alone." - B4MSU (Bear Nation poster) in reference to heckling players

I don't know the coaches plans but Last year McKay was said to be a potential NBA'er.

Am I the only one a little confused by his situation? Sounds like a guy that knows how to play, that much is for sure.

The Shockers will be a better team if we can get him here.
