Off topic, I know, but I remember that score being close but the game always feeling like we were going to lose. Their 5 out offense was pretty difficult for us to handle.

It was a battle of boyishly balding basketballers with Jon Elmore and Conner Frankamp matching each other’s 27 points. Like Vanessa Williams, Conner always seemed to save his best for last. He single handedly kept KU in the game in their NCAA loss to Stanford years ago and tried his best to save our butts in this game.

Reaves and Brown combined for 0 points. That was probably the death knell. We led by 3 at halftime and then like you said we just couldn’t stop them or keep pace in the second half.

Talk about a disappointing year. That team couldn’t get over the hump from the beginning. Epic meltdown loss to Notre Dame in the champ game of the pre season tourney, 1 point loss to Cincinnati at home on senior night with the regular season title on the line, 3 point loss to Houston in the semis, and of course the Marshall upset.

I can’t get Dan D’Antoni smug look out of my head to this day. That must have been the best game of the best team Marshall has ever had under D’Antoni. They have one tourney appearance and one win in his seven years. To hear the announcers discuss his basketball brilliance you would expect some more.

I forgot AR was a no show in that Marshall game. That makes him a BIG reason we lost 3 of those 4 games you mentioned:

          - TO and missed FTs against ND
          - TO at the end versus Houston in the AAC tourney
          - Goose egg in the NCAA against Marshall.

He was a solid player when here. I’ll never forget his shooting barrage against Tulsa in the 1st half. However, he definitely had some warts while here and was a big part of that season’s most disappointing moments.

Having said that, he has improved A LOT since he went to OU and WSU would have taken him back this season in a second.

I also forgot that he did nothing in that Marshall game. I never expected Brown to go off and have big offensive games, so that was more excusable.

I don't fault AR for the Houston turnover. The pass was the real issue there, IMO.

Koch Arena was LOUD when he went on that shooting run against Tulsa.

I'd pay good money to see that dumpster fire back together now.

I was there and I agree completely. I never felt like the Shox were in it. Was a ridiculous game. My wife was embarrassed to be there with me. Lol.
