Even the PF is very similar with the only offensive difference being the screen assignments. When Hall played the PF, he tended to get position inside. White tended to pop-out to the three point line. Smith did a little of both. Defensive assignments, I believe, are much more important in defining position in HCGMs system.

Very possible...or Baker, or Wessel, or Mitchell for various other reasons. Some very good players will not see the court next year.

Wessel was a enigma during his recruitment. Most thought his future was in football. He commited his Junior year. Alot of people looked at him. Perry Ellis contributed to his value. Smart player though. Could still surprise.

        • If Hawkins makes it here, he'll play a lot.

          • Other than Dwill and the Beast, it's all pretty much speculation. D-1 isn't Hi School ball and it d@#$ sure isn't Juco.

Saying someone whom we've only seen (or read about) in Juco or HS is ahead of a player that we've seen on the floor in a D-1 game is speculation in it's purest sense.

After watching FVV in the semi's and 3rd place Ill State playoffs - I'm trying to say this nicely - but he will get a good dose of reality (like every freshman does) when he steps on the floor for his first D-1 game. Passes and cross-overs that worked in HS don't work in D-1. Freshmen and Juco transfers usually serve more turnovers than McDonalds. It's the same with all of our newcomers.

Most of these guys are BMOC when they come here and then D-1 reality set's in. It's almost like they have to completely re-learn how to play. The screens, box outs, the physicalness - there is no comparison. Some get it - some don't

DWill, the Beast, Armstead, Wessel, White, EO, and even Anacreon are way ahead of the newcomers as of right now. That could change but "right now" those players are our only known quantity.

I'm very excited about the newcomers and I'm sure some will live up to expectations but I'm just as sure what's left of this years team will take up the lions share of minutes - especially early next season

You are correct. Same point; some very good players will not see the court next year.

                      • Looks like Nick's little brother was named Gatorade POY in WV. And in a shocking upset, Perry Ellis for Kansas.

2011-12 GATORADE STATE BOYS BASKETBALL PLAYERS OF THE YEAR A dedicated ESPNHS POY team managed the Gatorade State Boys Basketball Player of the Year selection process, resulting in the following winners based on athletic production and impact in the 2011-12 season.

To add to this, not only is Anacreon ahead of no one, I don't think it's too far fetched to say he may end up like his friend Ede, as well as Hamilton & Manigault.

                          • That's what I've been expecting for a while now. He's an incredible athlete, but he seems so lost out there. I don't see him getting more than mop up minutes next year at best if he stays.

I just remember around the time Ede left the team, James was posting on Twitter about how he wasn't happy, and I remember distinctly his tweet "I thought basketball was supposed to be fun." I think he wasn't ready for how intense D-1 basketball is. Also, Marshall is a very demanding coach, and expects more out of his players than most I think. It might have just not been a good fit for him. Hopefully he got his head screwed on straight, but I'm not holding my breath about it.

                              • Was that James that tweeted that? I remember seeing it. There have been enough rumors out there that I've heard and judging by body language and court time and what little interaction I get to witness that I think James will finish his career elsewhere.

That's not a statement of fact, just my own personal belief. I wish it could work out and we'd be able to see him put his athletic gifts to good use. I just don't expect it to happen here.
