Looks like they are going to run the men's 10K first. They were running a little late the decathlon javelin so they apparently decided to wait until after the 10K to run the decathlon 1500.

      Should be about 30 minutes.

Great job Austin. Great experience gained. Great time to set a personal best.

Does anyone know if two foreigners finished ahead of Austin? If so, I believe he is an All-American.

I count 4 foreign athletes who finished ahead of Austin:

            Johannes Hock, Texas (Germany)
            Marcus Nilsson, UCLA (Sweden)
            Maicel Uibo, Georgia (Estonia)
            Romain Martin, UT-Arlington (France)

I believe that means Austin is an All-American. Not bad for the kid from Wichita Heights.

Here is the write-up on Austin's performance from goShockers.com

EUGENE, Ore. ? The Shocker multis shined on day two of the NCAA Outdoor Championships. Austin Bahner smashed his own WSU Decathlon record, while Tanya Friesen started her heptathlon on record setting pace.

According to this article Austin earned 2nd Team All-American honors.

Tomas Cotter runs his final race as a Shocker in the 3,000M Steeplechase scheduled for 7:40pm Wichita time this evening.

Tomas has a reasonable shot at an All-American (Top 8) finish to his career.

                Good Luck, Tomas.

Tomas just misses putting the Shocks on the board and securing 1st Team All-American honors as he comes in 9th in the steeplechase just 0.6 behind the 8th place finisher. Tomas did earn 2nd Team All-American honors.

Conrgatulations on a great senior year Tomas.

John Rizzo finishes 13th in the javelin with a throw of 225-01 and earns 2nd team All-American honors. Congratulations John.

All three Shocker men earned 2nd team All-American honors. Austin Bahner (10th in the decathlon), Tomas Cotter (9th in the steeplchase) and John Rizzo (13th in the javelin).

EUGENE, Ore.- On the final day of competition at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, the Shocker women earned their highest team finish in school history. Jon Rizzo also finished his career with NCAA All-American honors at Hayward Field.

                        Some Shocker Trivia From 2013:

Wichita State is one of 4 schools that had a top 10 finish in both the Decathlon and the Heptathlon at this year's NCAA Championships:

Arkansas (8th in the Decathlon and 2nd in the Heptathlon)
Georgia (5th & 9th in the Decathlon and 7th in the Heptathlon)
UCLA (3rd in the Decathlon and 9th in the Heptathlon)
Wichita State (10th in the Decathlon and 5th in Heptathlon)

If you eliminate foreign athletes than Wichita State is the only school with top 10 finishes in both events.

Furthermore, Wichita States athletes both hail from within 50 miles of Wichita.

Perhaps just trivia, but something I think we can take special pride in the performances of Austin Bahner and Tanya Friesen.

Shocker's competing in USA Jr. (under 20 years old) and Sr. Championships:

Sr. Championships: Austin Bahner - Decathlon

Jr. Championships: Zach Budda (HJ), Tyson Holmes (Javelin), Brady Johnson (10k), John Nicholas (Dec) and Chase Pote (Javelin)

WICHITA, Kan.- The Shocker Track & Field team will send 11 athletes to this week's USA Junior and Senior Championships in Des Moines, Iowa, where they will compete against the nation's best in an effort to qualify for one of several international teams this summer.

Nice to see so many young Shockers competing.

@1972Shocker:, have you found anyplace to get live results? I couldn't....very disappointing for a National event but perhaps you have had more luck?
