That is true - last year sometime I figured it cost us about $92 per game. I started to think, how many games is that per month? I stopped there without calculating the total because I knew it would be shocking (pun intended).

Why are some under the impression that the Shocks wouldn't sell out IBA? I'm not understanding this point. I'll give the WSU marketing dept. the benefit of the doubt until we see it fail.
Playing Tulsa downtown makes a whole bunch of sense to me. I'd do it every other year, as long as they want to continue it. It's good for both cities.
Plus, BEER WILL BE SOLD.

2nd WSU had trouble selling out 10,500 last year and I was disappointed with the post-season attendance against Nevada (albeit there was very short notice). Will there be that fan hunger? Most of the sellouts had some pretty big holes in the crowd.
Now if WSU has a good showing in MAUI and gets some good vibes going and top 25 action then I think the risk would be mitigated and any concerns will look stupid.

I think the Tulsa game would come close to filling up IBA .
Keep in mind that a lot of Shocker fans don't even try to get tickets at Koch with the impression that it already is sold out, of if they were able to get tickets they would be in the rafters.
The allure of playing at IBA, with plenty of seats, against an old rival would not only attract new fans to watch WSU play, but also would attract a lot more Tulsa fans in making the 170 mile trip.
Granted, I think playing K-State this year or KU would make IBA a mad-house, but Tulsa would be pretty special too.

Maybe I'm in the minority on this, but I do not think the Shocks should play in the downtown arena. I was very pleased when the WSU athletics department chose to keep Shocker basketball on campus and not throw university support behind the downtown effort. I have season tickets that will go unused for any Shocker game played at IBA. Just my two cents...“Confrontation simply means meeting the truth head-on.”

-- Allows more hometown fans to see WSU play
-- Allows more visiting teams and potentially thousands of visting fans to spend more money in Downtown Wichita, Old Town, etc...
-- Helps WSU market IBA as an NCAA Men's tournament host
-- Helps attract additional teams to play WSU
-- Counters any recruiting edge to teams that play in larger arenas than Koch ("of course we too can play in an NBA type arena and we do 1 or 2 games per year, but we elect to play most of our games in our loud 10,000+ seat campus jewel. At WSU you get both")
IBA has provided WSU with an additional recruiting, marketing and scheduling (neutral site) tool. Let's make use of it.
