Actually, teams that names start with B, or Mo Valley teams in general, have not been good to KU or for KU. However, sometimes they draw Valley Teams and have to face the music of the realities that manifest the message that sometimes you can run, but you can't always hide. Thus, we understand such logic of their trepidation. The Kit-Kats take notes so they won't be declawed and start shaking in their mittens as well. It's all good baby!!!!!!!

What was the last Valley team to go to a Final Four?

Whom in the Big 12 failed to visit the Final 4 last Season after playing N. Iowa?

KU, can you answer which Conference has beaten you 2 of the last 3 times they played you at the Big Dance?

I won't disregard the hometown bias to have a marquee Shocker basketball event to open the new arena, and as a guy who was born and raised there I can empathize with everyone who paid taxes to build it and want a big game... but the Tulsa rivalry is a different animal.

If there were pictures or videos of X being restrained by his teammates going into halftime against Tulsa while shouting and pointing at whatever-his-name-was, or a recording of his locker room speech to the team a few years ago about why it was so important to beat Tulsa, I would post them. Same thing with Joe Griffin putting that 3 in their eye, falling out of bounds in OT.

                Tulsa is different.

If we can't get K-State to lay down their sanitary napkins and do it, play Alcorn State in Intrust. Play freaking Newman in Intrust. I don't care. Screw the attendance and the gate.

Tulsa had, has, and always will deserve the heat of the Roundhouse.

As whatever poster made it famous (after Radar O' Reilly) said:

                That is all.
I agree 100%, but I interpreted The Eagle article as Tulsa being "confirmed" at IBA, and Marshall wants it there.

                  Indiana State was the last.

I don't think anyone is arguing that the MVC is a bigger basketball powerhouse than the Big XII. However It is worth noting that the Big XII's bottom 8 teams each year seem to be very comparable to the MVC's bottom 8 teams. And on occasion (Bradely, UNI, and even SIU to some extent) The top of the Valley has had success against the top of the Big XII. It was only what, 4 years ago that the MVC had just as many at-large bids as the Big XII?

If you put the bias away, it really isn't a stretch to think that the Valley can compete on certain levels with the Big XII. But until the MVC gets a national championship in the modern era...the Big XII has the upper hand..

Why does Marshall want it there?

I still don't understand some who think WSU need to play downtown. WSU struggles selling out Koch (and their sellouts are more technical than real).

Perhaps one reason is he is using IBA as a recruiting tool. We know he has told recruits that we will play there and is showing it to them.

True, didn't think of that. I just hope that if it does happen this year it gets marketed VERY VERY well. I also hope they make the tickets in the upper section dirt cheap to attract average fans. Obviously I imagine the season ticket holders/students/etc will get first pick of the lower section.

Indy state would be my guess, however I would argue if the MVC routinely received 4-5 bids a year that number would be different. As a KU fan you can agree that getting to final four takes a good team and some luck because once you get to a certain round everybody is good. How many years have really good KU teams gone out early?

You can rip the MVC all you want. Nobody is going to argue MVC on par with Texas Big Beeches league top to bottom. However it always seems to get lost that the top of the MVC is usually fairly strong and can compete quite well with the big boys. KU has been pretty dang solid last 5 years and MVC has given them all they want in the tourney, even the year KU beat SIU.

Cracks me up u come on here. I could't give a darn about Ku or ksu. Sucks they refuse to play but that's how it goes.

I struggle to understand how the downtown arena would be a factor in a recruit decisions. Lot of risk there of turning away from arena where you have a crowd and environmental advantage of to where one maybe at the very least is unknown. Remember what happen to the Eck. Bigger is sometimes not better.

Plus you know it is going to piss of season ticket holders - because they are going to get screwed by the WSU administration some how.

Now I can see the WSU administration wanting to do this so they can be a future host to NCAA type events - but that is not Marshall.

It probably looks impressive and you try to give good impressions when a recruit visits.
