Could we please kill this thread which was about the pending arrival of Orupke. He is here and occasionally gets some floor time. Perhaps the thread should be "evaluating Orupke"

This thread shall live on in fame until Orukpe is in the NBA!The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.

It missed, but he was effective dribbling and moving his defender back toward the basket. I didn't notice his ability to do either a year ago - or even earlier this season.
If he ever learns that he can beat his defender to the basket along the baseline, just that move should be worth double-digit scoring. Orukpe is either quicker or has longer legs than almost any defender he's going to encounter. Either the quickness or the legs can be used to beat a defender to the hoop.
I have a feeling that by the time he's a Sr, there are going to be a lot of post defenders still defending the block when Orukpe is already between the defender and the basket.
Stutz has some of the best fundamentals I've seen in a big guy. Orukpe has a lot of good instructors and examples to learn from.

Originally posted by Snapshot9Yeah, EO had some spark to him tonight on the court. He could be a real crowd pleaser if he develops his potential.
I would substitute grit and fight for "spark."

first time i saw him play was the waning moments against UNI. he looked lost as hell out on the floor but damn, he is a friggin physical specimen. the way he moved he did not look like a 7 footer. he moves like someone who is much shorter. i hope he is out playing ball every day in the off season. he has special written all over him.

On the Coaches show tonight, Gregg Marshall sure seemed upbeat about EO giving Stutz a solid race for some serious playing time next Season. He seemed to even ponder on it being possibly pretty equal. He said EO is getting much better at positioning himself on the block, very close to the hoop, which is what is expected of our post players. He said that he wants Garrett to play better D. without fouling too much. The subject of a "Big Man Camp" was mentioned. However Coach said they are pricey and College players have to fork out their own bread for payment. Coach also mentioned a trip Overseas this very summer for our beloved Shocks.Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.
