      the year in the Valley.
MG/SF: Smooth, he will be fine as he gets into the
System. Can score both inside and out.
RC/PF A warrior!! Absolutly incredible rebounder.
A scorer not a shooter, should never leave
the paint. (watch the tape of him putting
40 0n San Jacks .... he shoots 1 shot out
      of the paint.)
PT/C : On Paint player with D/1 experience.

Bench: GM, JT & AE will get most of the minutes
Did you watch Phil fail to hold onto rebounds and miss/drop passes last year? If Phil is our center, it's going to be a LONG season.
I seem to recall that comment being made about a center a couple of years ago. What was his name? Oh yeah, some slow footed, hands of stone Fifi, named Paul Miller.
If Phil plays as well as Paul did as a senior, I'll sing his praises along with everyone else. I just don't see evidence that this will occur. Paul was taller, had a nice outside shot as a junior, etc. What does Phil bring to the table as a senior?

Don't worry too much about it. Just do all you can do and let the rough end drag.

I'm going to trust Marshall to make the call. Who starts in a particular game may depend on the matchups. Matt was often abused when we played SIU but I recall a game against Illinois State where he drove their point guard crazy with his pressure on the ball. Both of our point guards are good. If Gal could play every game like the first half of the MSU-WSU game in the MVC tourney, I'd be willing to consider Gal as a starter. :D

Yes, that was a great game that Gal played and it finally made a believer out of a friend of mine who had been down on Gal up until that game. I would love to see Gal have a game like that every time he plays, he certainly has the potential. :yahoo:

EO won't have a conditioning problem. I'm sure of that.

I guess I'm not Nigrian enough to know all of GM's plays and strategies by deplaning at ICT, but if you believe it, go ahead and believe it, ...I won't try to persuade you differently!

In addition, Marshall has said point blank that EO will start as soon as he arrives. This is not just fans' guessing, it is the statement of the head coach.
Look at the schedule. Do you really think GM will pick EO up at the airport and put him in immediately against LSU or UAB without any experience with the team? I guess I don't like the possibility of not being able to run the team plays because of one man on the floor who won't know them. I wouldn't think he will be ready until after the first of the year, if that. If he doesn't know the plays better than Durley or Thomasson, then they would be playing handicapped if he were to get in upon his arrival.

I'm not saying that there are not issues (although he could be here in time to play at UMKC before LSU and UAB), but yes I think GM would start him. Why? Because Marshall said he would. If you want to argue that it isn't a good idea, go ahead, but there is no argument that Marshall wouldn't do it.

                    Honestly though

What more does he need to know when he first gets here.

"Dont that those guys score or rebound"
                    "Dunk on everybody"

                    the rest is just details

If he can hold onto a rebound and catch a pass, Orupke is already ahead of Thomasson.

What is so hard about "Ehimen, defend the paint and grab rebounds." "PJ, score however you want or dish to the open man." "Mantas, be that open man." "Ramon, live in the paint and dunk anything in sight." "Matt or Gal: Get the ball to PJ."??

the man is 7 feet tall with a 7'3 wingspan.

Put your arms straight in the air and hit him in his hands.

Good Point. "Gal, if they are overplaying PJ, guarding Mantas closely and playing tough man-to-man defense, take the ball to the basket and score or drop the ball off to Ramon or Ehimen." Defend that, SIU.

And Monday, I seem to recall Coach saying that when he gets here, there would be decisions to make. I'll have to wait and see what Coach does. Boy would I love for the kid to get here in shape to play and be able to catch on quick enough to really help.

EO could (conceivably) be here well in advance of Dec. 15. That is just the first day he would be eligible to play and participate in official practices.

He could certainly attend and watch the practices, as well as work independently with the other players outside of practices.

I know the staff has contacts in Nigeria who have "handled" EO. They could work with him, helping to teach him our basic sets, as communicated by our coaches.

I doubt very seriously he would hit the court at UMKC with no understanding of GM's plays or system.

This whole scenario was done similarly by KSU last year with regards to Bill Walker. His first game was Dec. 17.
