If we can't beat Florida A&M by more than 15 points, it is really going to be a long, long season.

So you're saying a 14 point win would be an Omen? :D

Well then, you need to start preparing. This game will be closer than you like and then after the Shox get their arses handed to them in the tourney, please don't go doing something stupid and kill yourself.

He may see more action depending on match-ups but overall I'd say single digit minutes.
Last year they played him more on the wing where they realized the quicker Valley wings were trouble for him. He's strictly a post player by all reports this year and has gotten stronger. He did fairly well when inside last season. And he gives us another post player who can step out and knock down a 3 to stretch the D.

A 'W' is a 'W'. They don't give out style points. At this point, as long as they win, and play defense I'll be happy. I'm sure if they do, we'll have little to worry about on Sunday.

:good: Experience, playing together and winning are what this team will be built on. I always feel more comfortable in big games with a team who has played alot of tight games. 8) :wsu_posters:

Alibi all you want. This is an inexperienced MEAC conference team which is also made up of "a multitude of newcomers in their mix."

If all the raving for months about what an outstanding recruiting class this is bares any resemblance to the truth, one would only hope that our supposedly D-1 recruits can manage to outplay a very young, very inexperienced MEAC school.

From all indications, this is certainly not a team which should give us much of a game. There are at least 8-10 basketball teams in Florida which are significantly better than Florida A&M.

If you believe that not being able to outclass schools like Emporia State and Florida A&M on your home court by 15 or more points, isn't significant, and believe we are going to win 15-20 games this year, think again.

The difference between 15 wins and 20 wins is huge. I don't know of anybody who expects 20, and winning by fewer than 15 points this early in the season with a team this young does not mean 15 wins is out of the question.

With a more experienced team that has higher expectations, your argument would be very sound. Most of us, however, expect this team to steadily improve throughout the year, and that may not result in a whole lot of comfortable wins.

it will also allow Durley to showoff his new found D sklls.

                      When did this happen?

If we win by 50 - don't start thinking we are in the top 10.
If we lose to A&M - don't start thinking it is the end of the world either; remember, it is a long season. We will all be better off if we relax, enjoy the games, and watch the team grow. Anything can happen in the world of sports. :goshocks:

They beat an NAIA team by 8 points. I will be VERY concerned if they loose little alone a decisive victory. For the record I believe our beloved Shocks will win by 15 or more points.

                          Go Shocks!!!!

Well, since this offseason, and it's been mentioned by many, including Marshall.

People around here might have to search for a new trope to throw out when they can't think of anything else.

And I believe we will win by more than 15 as well as this is certainly not a team we should have to struggle to beat.

Our recruiting class still got us tabbed a 9th place ranking in the Valley. Unfortunately, unless the group has had a fill of magic beans, it takes a while for a group of newbies (yes, even D-1 newbies) to gel and get accustomed to things. Asking for a 15 point win right out the window pretty much makes me assume you're gonna be a disappointed fan this year.

We probably should beat this team by double-digits. UCLA probably should have beat Miami (OH) by double-digits last night, but only won by 5. UCLA's season is in trouble now..

That's because Florida has a lot of schools. What's your point again?

Who said anything about winning 20 games? Hell, I'm not even sold on 15 wins. Remember, we are being picked 9th for a reason. Now, that doesn't mean we have to settle for 9th by all means, but to significantly set yourself up with such lofty goals, well, means you're gonna be a very sad man for the next few months.
