I think we got what we wanted and that was for noticeable, but gradual, improvement as a team.
JT really did not give us much due to his foul trouble and you could see Aaron trying to shake the rust off, although he had a good game on the boards.
Otherwise, a good opening effort from the young Shocks.
 :goshocks: :good:

Living in Tucson I obviously didn't get to watch the game but one stat that blows my mind is Murry- 10 assists!! Ten assists for a freshmen PG just has to get you EXCITED for the Shocks. Keep him surounded by some talent and you got to LOVE the Shocks future over the next four years!!!

Includes all points, rebounds and steals stats.
Going to say the same thing. I agree with the quiet game, but if someone has 10 assists I think I would realize that.Shocker fan since December 28th, 2005!

I'm not worried about Aaron. Just because he's one of the few recognizable faces doesn't make him a veteran.
He's a soph coming off injury and getting his first real minutes. He was bound to be over-excited. He did contribute -- pulling down 6 boards in 16 minutes.
A.J. showed some of the same spastic exuberance, wanting it too bad ... playing too fast ... not letting the game come to him.
Just to parrot everybody else: Toure and Stutz are gonna be stars in the MVC before they're done. Stutz looks like he's ahead of Paul Miller at the same point in their careers and has a huge upside, too.“The rebellion on the populist right against the results of the 2020 election was partly a cynical, knowing effort by political operators and their hype men in the media to steal an election or at least get rich trying. But it was also the tragic consequence of the informational malnourishment so badly afflicting the nation. ... Americans gorge themselves daily on empty informational calories, indulging their sugar fixes of self-affirming half-truths and even outright lies.'”

1. I'm astonished by the change in Hatch.
2. Stutz much better today that vs Emporia.
3. Hannah has much better feet than Chamberlain.
4. Did they introduce KJ in the crowd? Did I miss that?
5. Durley, Stutz and Ellis will all be in foul trouble A LOT.
6. If/when Griskenas gets healthy, we'll be playing 10 guys. No idea how you ever get that group down to eight.

I'm not that suprised by Hatch's improvement. Living out in the west I've gotten to follow quite a few LDS players. It often takes a year to see what they got as far as game following their time off for the mission. He was pretty good in Highschool at a time when threre was some pretty good talent in Phoenix.

Nice 2nd half obviously. I kept wishing they would take the ball inside, which they did far more often in the 2nd half, which helped their % and helped them create an outside game.
JT was slow to take it to the hoop or shoot today. He hesitated several times and the other team started to figure it out and attacked him a couple of times. He'll need to be more aggressive and move quicker--especially when facing opponents that aren't as athletic.
Toure was impressive and Graham is becoming a real 'hard hat' type worker--coming in with a blue collar mindset and lots of hustle. Ramon was--Ramon, which is a great thing. We need to be careful not to rush into shots and instead let the plays develop, but that's to be expected from such a young team who thinks every shot they take will fall (they are a confident bunch, which is good).
In my opinion we're looking as good as can be expected this early in the season with such a young bunch. I'm excited to see them develop. Playing a team like Georgtown will be a bit scary, but with some luck the team till take it as a learning experience and be better for it.

You all seem pretty pleased with what happened this afternoon, I was too, but there is one bit that I can't say I was too happy with.
Stutz dropped a few passes today, but I think that was more the fault of Hannah's entries. Lots of them came to him at chest level or lower, where his defender could get a hand on them. I'd like to see him get more passes up high that he can catch while stepping and slide to the basket or just back down his man.
He's 7' tall for goodness sake, let's see him use it. :good:
