From there, those that want to 'play for pay' with the pros someday, somewhere, will take their learnings and seek to work hard on improving their overall game and to be more consistent in that quest. Yes, I think MM will come out primed, able, and ready to help our Shocks have a banner Season. He is part of the tripod foundation of this team along with Shaq and LS to provide us with quality performances and team leadership IMO. I liked how he developed on the defensive end to assist Zach Brown to 'slow down to a mild roar' the key players of our foes. Next time we play a team such as Kentucky, look for MM as a developing Junior, to hit big shots and make defensive stops on a more consistent level than ever before. This will become contagious and then our Shocks will be a "handful" to defeat this Season.
Its okay if he gets a little lost in the shuffle of attention around LS. But every coach in the ACC is well aware of him I guaruntee that.

    • I think McDuffie's future after this season depends on an evaluation of the available SF's in the 2018 and 2019 NBA draft classes. He'd probably do best by picking whichever year had the least competition at his position. Unless he blows up this year and projectrs as a first-rounder in 2018.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.

      • Let's put it this way. According to GoShockers.com, last Season, MM led us in scoring, steals, free throw %, and rebounding and was 4th in total assists. He was rewarded with this consistent play by Coach Marshall as 2nd on the team in minutes played with 918. Where I was impressed with Duff the most though was his role of assisting in guarding many of our foes key players, and was not foul prone in doing so. We talk about players developing in the Marshall Plan. MM is a key example of that notion as he was a key player as a Soph. on our squad last Season. Let's hope this improvement continues through this Season with the new and improved schedule and AAC Conference we will be participating in. MM could be playing both the 4 and the 3 slots often this Season.

            • Found some box scores for the tournament on twitter. Markis averaged right at 10 ppg / 2.5 rebounds / 2 steals in about 16 minutes per game. MM's team was led by Alize Johnson, who had a great tournament with two double-doubles.

I think Alize Johnson is the real deal and perhaps the #1 reason that I think Missouri State should contend in the Valley this year. Granted the Bears had him last year and could only manage to finish 7th but I thought the Bears had as good as talent as anyone in the league outside of WSU and ILS. MSU really didn't lose that much and with Alize getting his 1st year of D-1 ball under his belt he will be even a bigger load for Vallley teams to handle. My guess is that he will be the preseason MVC POY pick.

That's a good solid effort for Markis as well. He was probably glad Markis was his teammate so he didn't have to worry about facing off agaisnt Markis. Of course, Markis may have had the same thoughts about Alize.

Do you have a link to those box scores?

Johnson would probably start for us and Church would see significamt minutes. There are zero frontcourts in the MVC that can match up with them this year. The rest of their players? Meh.

I think he is implying that throwing a 7-2, 275 lb body in with Johnson and Church would make an even more formidable front court for Valley teams to match up against. OTOH he did not point out that Bhullar only played in about 2/3rds of the Aggies games last year averaging 7.0 MPG in those games and averaging 2.7 PPG, 2.3 RPG and 0.5 blocks per game played.

No question that size-wise he is a mis-match. However, in terms of skills, quickness and athleticism, etc. maybe not so much. Perhaps @Jtaylor is confident that Bhullar will blossom under the astute tutelage of Coach Lusk.
