Cinci - 4 Seed

They still have WSU listed in the MVC until it becomes official July 1. The Auto bid for the MVC goes to Loyola granting them a very impressive 15 seed. ouch.

Landry Shamet (11.4 PPG, 80 percent from the free throw line, 44 percent from the 30-point line)
Wichita State's 6-foot-4 point guard scored 20 points (5-for-7 inside the arc) in an NCAA tournament game against a Kentucky backcourt that featured two potential top-10 picks in Malik Monk and De'Aaron Fox. Gregg Marshall's history of sending unheralded talents to the NBA (Cleanthony Early, Fred VanVleet and Ron Baker) suggests that Shamet is a point guard worth watching in 2017-18. In the American Athletic Conference, he'll face talented guards and enjoy multiple opportunities to demonstrate his next-level talent. "He's still young and getting better," Marshall told ESPN.com.SHOCKERS & AWE

I think UCF and Houston will both be in the mix. I'm more confident to see them there than UCONN. We have great guards, but our post players are young and unproven. We'll find out pretty early in the season with our OOC schedule:
PK80 Tournament:
Game 1 - Oregon
Game 2 - Michigan State/Georgetown
Game 3 - UNC/Oklahoma/Arkansas/Portland
@ Arizona
@ Auburn
Villanova
Syracuse (@ MSG)

Even if WSU was still in the MVC, this year is shaping up to be one of the worst seasons for that conference. Illinois St is dead, UNI won't be any better and they were already pretty awful. MSU and Loyola will probably get a little better. SIU is at its ceiling. Won't be better, but could still be worse. A 15 seed is pretty rough.

"How will Wichita State's move to the AAC impact the Shockers?" - Sports Illustrated
Joan Niesen
June 1st, 2017
"The college basketball off-season is long and largely lacking in major news developments. Programs are still finalizing their 2017 recruiting classes and sorting out which of their players will return for another season or jump to the professional ranks. We’ve got a long way to go until Midnight Madness. To help pass the time, SI.com is asking and answering three key questions about each of the teams in our Way-Too-Early Top 25. Here’s No. 9, Wichita State...."
