  • We got sidetracked into some posts trying to determine the source of links not working.

The article we're try to link says that Austin was fully cleared a week ago, and that he fels great and has no concerns at all about his shoulder.

Edit: Still doesn't work "Connection not secure" message. I get the same message if I copy/paste the URL into a blank web page instead of clicking the link. I can fight my way past the "Not secure" message in Internet Explorer, but then I get a "Not Found" message. I'm starting to think there's a problem at goshockers.

It looks like goshockers.com keeps changing the path.

Here's the one 1972Shocker originally used.

Here's the link I first used.

      Here's the latest link.

Wichita State's Austin Reaves took a late-night visit to the Koch Arena practice gym. Darral Willis beat him there, toiling to make himself a more versatile scorer.

      • It's the "s" that appears in "https" that messes things up. That "s" designates a secured site. When spending money on the net, you should always make sure the site you're using has that "s".

goshockers is not a secured site. When your browser expects to find a secured site and finds one that isn't secured, it refuses to go there.

The "s" is not used by goshockers and isn't in any links when they are originally posted, but SN is changing (I'm guessing) all links to add the "s", so it is not possible to link from SN to an unsecured site. I imagine there is a fix for that somewhere in the code that the admins haven't found yet.

        • Austin's foot injury has no timetable for return

          • The idea was to redshirt him anyway this season. Clearly we don't have the depth to allow for that in a perfect world. I feel bad for the young man, it seems injuries are doomed to plague him and he's so much fun to watch play the game he loves. Hope he recovers 100%, whenever that may be.

I mean you never heard of Jordan or Bird missing time for a stress fracture. Those guys had guts and heart. Maybe we should dedicate more time to our lower bodies instead of big arms like most of our guys have. I’m all for having a thick, solid, and tight upper body but when you’re compromising the legs on the bottom it’s not gonna help

Part of the problem is the weight training. When a person runs, jumps, stops, starts and uses heavier weights for any bodypart your asking for injury.
I have come here to chew bubblegum and kickass ... and I'm all out of bubblegum.

That's just selective memory. Jordan missed most of his second season in the NBA to a broken foot. Stress fractures ruined Bill Waltons career.

Certainly a big part of it. I don't recall ever seeing a pic of Larry Bird lifting weights (certainly like today's athletes); Bo Jackson was just...athletic. Now players do this to enhance their abilities, maybe to be like Larry or Bo, but it takes a toll. Most weightlifters will report injuries outside of any sport participation. Add them together, and, well...
As much respect as I have for Kerry R it is damn near impossible to judge how much stress an individual's bone can take. It's not his regimen at fault is my point.

                          • BTW, from what I've read, Jordan spent much of his time NOT in the weight room but in the casino and/or golf course.

                            • A lot of these injuries IMHO are probably overuse type injuries. Today's players put in tons of time in the gym both in organized activities and on their own. The other thing is so many of these guys focus almost exclusively on one sport so the repetitive use is year round. Jackie Styles was notorious for putting in time in the gym until her career ended relatively early when her body finally said enough is enough.

In any case I feel bad for Austin. But who knows if this puts him on the shelf for the entire year perhaps in the long run he will benefit. I really like how this young man plays the game though and I will miss him if he is out very long.
