Good for the RPI and other computer numbers since the game would have no impact. 2 games against non-D1 opponents (assuming a pairing with Chaminade in Maui) is probably 1 more than we'd like, but likely not a big deal since we'll be maxing out our OOC slate at 13 games.

Had to rewatch the Valentine's Day game highlights. Hope they show some of those during the game. Give a young coach some cred with his players and should take some of the sting off the beatdown.
Wichita State, home of the All-Americans.

That was a quick transition, everything I had read said it would happen next year. I assume we were aware of this when we scheduled the game but just seems weird to play a D2 from Georgia.

We did it last year, although in a true exhibition game. It is odd to have it as a regular season game though unless they are expected to be good for a D2 program, which I doubt.

As for the others, I'm in for the long haul, both in marriage and season tickets. I'll just have to see some of the teams next year.
I was allowing for the possibility you were marrying a sugar momma!

I was bored and since there is ambiguous information on the timing of the their move to D-II, I gave Wikipedia a check:

"On April 13, 2017 it was announced that Savannah State would drop from Division I back to Division II starting in the Fall of 2019. The move was being made as a financial one for the university. [7] Conference affiliation for Savannah State in Division II has yet to be determined."

Apparently, Play Angry spoke with the janitor.

Actually apparently neither is correct: http://savannahnow.com/local-college...wn-division-ii Apparently there is a 2 year transition period where they are ineligible for both levels. I would assume that means they wouldn't count for RPI purposes.

                  • So, we're playing a D1.5 school?

                    • Certainly possible the administrator I spoke with is incorrect (no janitor, though - one of the folks listed in their AD's staff directory). There was no uncertainty in their response, so that would be kind of a big gap in understanding within their department.

                      Edit:

Thanks for clarifying, that's pretty interesting. I'll be curious to see how the game will be treated for RPI and other metrics - I'd think you're right (that it would be excluded) but don't know that I've seen the transition play out before. IIRC, when Winston-Salem State dropped down, the impact was immediate (maybe they had the same transition period and simply were treated as D-II for all purposes right away, which could be the case here).

                      • Thought our only chance of playing Charleston was at their yearly classic 😉

                        • Any speculation regarding TV? I hadn't seen anything here -apologies if I missed any discussion.

It seems that most AAC games were on either the ESPN family or CBS Sports (I only looked at a couple schools). Quite a few non-con as well (the rest were streamed on ESPN3). I fully expect to see almost every game as has become the norm (All local broadcasts were on ESPN3).

                          Questions are thus:

How many games will be broadcast on ESPN fam or CBS Sports? How many will be "local broadcasts"/ESPN3? What is the local TV situation?

I realize the only correct answer is "anyones best guess" ergo - what's y'alls best guesses?

Lessor non-con games will likely be local/ESPN3 which means Cox 22 for those in Wichita. I doubt many if any conference games will be local except maybe something like Tulane/USF. Also there maybe a game on a new venture called Stadium(was previously ASN until a recent merger). Previously ASN was broadcast OTA in some markets, but not in Wichita. Not sure what the status of the new Stadium network or if it will be OTA in Wichita or if someone like Cox would by the rights to games to piggy back on their service.

Until the deal is up for review in 2019, I believe this still holds true:

                              • So can I cut the Cox cord without fear of missing any WSU games that will be televised there, or should I wait a little longer to find out for sure?
