"Savannah State to drop athletics to Division II (Financial burdens forced the Tigers to make a difficult decision)" - SB Nation
by Torrance Jones
Apr 18, 2017, 7:51am PDT
"Savannah State is planning to reclassify all its athletic programs to Division II, the school has announced. The official move is pending NCAA approval.
The decision was made in hopes that Savannah State can best serve its student-athletes while remaining fiscally responsible, the school said. The reclassification, which will also end the university’s relationship with the MEAC, comes after the administration went through months of deliberations. Savannah State, the NCAA, and the MEAC have been in discussions for what it takes to make the upcoming transition as smooth as possible.
The Tigers have been a Division I member since 2002, and competed in basketball as an independent until joining the MEAC in 2010.
This will not be the first time the Tigers have competed at the Division II level — they are former members of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC). The SIAC could be a possible future landing place for Savannah State, as could the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association, which would offer a good fit regionally and competitively.
Per the school’s press release, the reclassification plan will become more clear over the new few months. As for now, the Savannah State Tigers await the NCAA’s decision in order for them to make their next move."

Here's some advice for any new AAC fan that's joining us at Shockernet, or just any fan of another team in general:
Some of our regulars like to bully people who are fans of other teams, or people they even suspect could be a fan of another school. They will be relentless and follow you around this website bullying you with the same 3-4 jokes they've been using for 10+ years. You'll quickly realize how un-original they are and you'll end up using the mute feature on them. It really cleans up the board, fyi.
We also don't like it when people don't praise our team/coach/atmosphere constantly. If you say anything even slightly poor about us, even if your team beats us by 40, a few select people will write it down in Microsoft Word and bring it up whenever you post, even if your new post has nothing to do with that former comment whatsoever.
But, we'll pretend to be nice to you in person if you come to a game! So we've got that going for us, I guess.
In other words, what Shocker fans have constantly heard from Chicken (that'd means ku) fans. Now they're on the receiving end... 78-65!

We've had some new posters from other AAC schools on here, a few post fairly often and I've not noticed anything.
I really like posters from other schools coming on here. It's always important to remember that sport board fan bases are made up of a lot of passionate posters. If your from another school's board, understand that and don't light a match that will create a fire. Responses to trolling is not the fault of our posters. Neither is it our fault if a new poster says they're a Shocker supporter, but almost always make poking statements.
I'd really like to know who all on this board you think fits your bully description. Please send a PM and I promise not to divulge any names as I just want to see if they indeed earn that badge or whether it was provoked.

I can't speak for everyone, but I have been treated exceptionally well on this board. I have had arguments and dustups with people, but that's expected when people exchange opinions.
Living in Omaha and have season tickets to Creighton basketball, if this board was anywhere near as rough on outside posters as was insinuated, I'd be dead. There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

Sure there may be a few thin-skinned posters on this board (what fan forum wouldn't have some?)...but the majority of Shocker posters here are excellent and enjoy having visitors from other schools. Makes it fun and I for one like to read other perspectives...minus "bubble" trolls of course.FINAL FOURS:
