I think that our coaches have done a Super job this year getting our kids to play together after FVV and Ron. We knew that there would be some growing pains this year and to be playing like we are is a great job and a COY type of job (our fans should recognize it even if others in our league do not). Next year, I would think that we would be prepared to win those early games but I was not surprised that we didn't this year.

On a different subject, I don't know if advanced analytics like the KenPom will be recognized next year or not, but it needs to be.

So Mullers tweet got a response from the Ole Miss AD and Coach saying they would love to match up, and Muller just responded that he will be calling them today. This is interesting lol

Gotta give Muller some credit on this one.

I agree .. this will be entertaining at least. I mean Ole Miss isn't a grand pull ~76 RPI, but still better than most OOC games.

Get games like that vs "buy games" like South Carolina State!

              Good going for Muller!

We have OSU and OU games next year, Tulsa, MWC/MVC plus Maui. Not like we need to punt our schedule and start all over. Get rid of one or two of the UMES's of the world and take a buy or H&H starting on the road against Top 50, or H&H against Top 100. Goes without saying we need to win a fair number of those. Is any (reasonable) season ticket holder going to care about missing a 40 point November beatdown of South Carolina State? If that is your type of entertainment Evansville, Indiana State and Drake will still be coming to town.

We aren't taking a buy game as the visitor. Neutral, you bet.

We need to get some wins in the Dance then pressure the hell out of the networks and promoters to put us in a made for TV matchup again, a la Memphis in 2014 (only with someone, well, better than 2014-15 Memphis).

It still sorta blows my mind we can never make this sort of thing work for a matchup at the Sprint Center. You know who and KSU are *******, no doubt, but you'd think Illinois/Mizzou (yes, I know they suck now but would be fine with this series)/Iowa/Iowa State/whoever would take the bait one of these years.

I think we should set up an annual showdown with Creighton at the Sprint Center. Let each school sell half the seats. The atmosphere would be great.
Its a good landing if you can walk away, its a great landing if the plane can be reused the next day.

Re: Buy game: Why not? What's wrong with taking one or two of those a season? Why not take a buy game at Florida or Villanova? We're in the freaking Valley. A one bid league. We can't write off taking buy games just because we think the status of our program is "above" that because the conference isn't.

Also, I would NOT want to schedule a game against Mizzou within the next 5 years. That program is a dumpster fire and it's going to take awhile before that game becomes worthwhile.

However, I'd love to schedule Iowa or Iowa St, even Illinois. I don't see why any of those teams wouldn't agree to a Sprint Center match-up. Multiple midwest P5 teams would be up for that. K-State would probably love that. Schedule a Sprint Center/KSU/WSU 3-year deal.

Or maybe Marshall should get on Twitter and ask for a home/home against someone. Seems to work.

Yes, we are above taking a 1 and done buy game on the road. Coach Marshall agrees. Sorry if you disagree - I encourage you to raise it on the radio show and see how the explanation of playing in the shitty ol MVC justifies whoring ourselves out plays with him.

Once you open up the "I'll take a check, meet ya at your place" scheduling mentality, good luck scheduling future H-Hs. It's not a trade worth making in our position and would nix future series in line with Utah, Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, etc.

It's not "whoring ourselves out" and I think HCGM is completely wrong.

But if he's ok with winning 30 games and potentially not making the dance unless we win the Valley tournament then more power to him.

We're NOT above taking a 1 and done buy game on the road, as much as you AND HCGM think we are. Our crap conference sees to that.

P5 bubble teams do not get in by going on the road in conference and beating top 50 opponents. They get in by sitting at home and beating top 50 opponents.
