  • With 6 minutes left in the MSU/DU game, Johnson has 19 rebounds, tying a record for most rebounds at the Knapp Center.

Msu was down 5 when I started typing this. Now with 4 and change left it's tied 63-63.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

    • DU goes inside where they are a powerhouse, passing up several 3 point shots. It did not end well.
Where oh where is our T. Boone Pickens.

      • MSU beats Drake 76-73.
Its a good landing if you can walk away, its a great landing if the plane can be reused the next day.

        • Fortunately for the MSU Athletic Department, Lusk may have saved his job. They can't really afford a buyout. Unfotunately for the MSU basketball program and MSU fans (both of them), Lusk may have saved his job.

If all it took to save his job was to squeak out a win over a struggling Drake team that has now lost 7 in a row (all by bigger margins than tonight's game) for a win that puts his team at 15-13 overall and 7-9 in the Valley then his job must not have been in much jeopardy to begin with.

However, I don't doubt that they were more than a few Missouri State fans hoping that the Bears would lose this game on the hopes that it might have been enough to force the issue on Lusk.

There is a thread on the Bears board where they are optimistic about their chances to replace him.

How many consecutive years have they had such a thread for Lusk?

I bet it even trumps the length of time SIU fans have been barking for Barry's removal.

Says a bunch of people that don't have enough money to buy Lusk out. Their only hope is for Lusk to resign

                    • I will say this. Lusk playing his 5 starters 35, 35, 36, 38 and 39 minutes this late in the season does sort of reek of desperation to win. MSU played 3 guys off its bench a combined total of 17 minutes.

Hope he does that again at Bradley and then see how his guys hold up against the Shockers' depth.

MSU would have had a hard time avoiding thursday night if they had lost. Desperate times call for desperate measures.

                        • Bradley, Drake, ISUb, & Evansville have all but locked up Thursday night slots.

There are a few very remote possibilities to avoid Thursday night.

                          Bradley has no hope.

Drake needs to win out and have Loyola lose all remaining games to avoid Thursday.

ISUb needs to win out and have SIU lose all remaining games. They would then be tied with SIU for 6th and the rpi wizard predicts a final rpi of 188 for ISUb and 192 for SIU.

Evansville needs to win out and have any 1 of Loyola, MSU, or SIU lose all remaining games. They would have split with all 3 teams and would almost certainly win the rpi tiebreaker.

                          • I think we are going to see a massive coaching change between the begging of this year and April 2018. Marty, Paul, and Barry will surely be done. The seat will get hot for Greg (one g) as well if he can't finish outside of Thursday. Gregg, Ben, Dan, and probably Porter are safe.

I believe Marty signed a nice extension last off season. He appears to be permanent. MSU can't afford to pay a buyout. Neither can SIU, and it's unlikely SIU could hire anyone who could do better than Barry. Lowery buried that program and poured concrete over the grave.
