I still think the Jailbirds are going to lose when they visit the beaches of Cedar Falls.

But even if they don't, and the league winds up in a tie at 17-1, which would presumably give WSU the #2 seed, today's Shocker result vs. the UNIs makes a possible St. Louis semifinal rematch look not too scary.

I believe Marty signed a nice extension last off season. He appears to be permanent. MSU can't afford to pay a buyout. Neither can SIU, and it's unlikely SIU could hire anyone who could do better than Barry. Lowery buried that program and poured concrete over the grave.

Marty's extension was not disclosed. It may have beeen a 1 or 2 year deal. He's on the hot seat next year IMO. The problem is, as you alluded to, these programs can't afford to hire a good coach.

Very possible. Sometimes when a Coach becomes so unpopular and the fan support and interest in a program drops so low you simply can not afford not to make a change.

Forbes would be an excellent choice but I would guess that they will go with another P5 assistant - probably from the B10. That's what their M-O has been. First Alford and then Cuonzo. Lusk has been an abysmal failure so they may change.

There is enough $$ in Springfield to buy out Lusk. I just have a feeling that they will be looking for a bargain and go with a P5 assistant.

I love that idea. Put Forbes at MSU. he might be interested since they are about to go big time in the Sun Belt, a Power 7, BCS conference.

I suppose I would have given the new Drake coach a shot last month but as predicted by some on this board, they did in fact fizzle and return to last place. I'm sure they will crown him for winning 5 MVC games.

I'd like to see Marty Simmons become an assistant coach at West Virginia. And also bring in Mark Mangino as an assistant. Would have to have the engineering school get to work on structural testing for a new court side bench to accommodate those three.

If Evansville were to open up, maybe they could be the ones to take a shot at Moton.

I'd hate to see Hinson go.

Moton probably already makes more than Simmons and Simmons isn't going anywhere anyways.

I don't think you can win at Drake or Evansville. Get someone who can beat the 8 MEAC and SWAC schools they schedule and I'm satisfied.

I think you can win at SWOMO. I don't think Forbes or Moton would take that job. They're in good positions now and SWOMO isn't going to greatly upgrade their lifestyle. I can't think of any good low-major options.
