Marshall said it's the shoulder (implication being the same shoulder, but that wasn't specifically declared) and that he was not a trainer, so he'd just have to wait for AR to get back.

"I not sure that I've ever been around a more competitive player or young man than Fred VanVleet. I like to win more than 99.9% of the people in this world, but he may top me." -- Gregg Marshall 12/23/13 :peaceful:

Remember when Nancy Pelosi said about Obamacare:
"We have to pass it, to find out what's in it".
A physician called into a radio show and said:
"That's the definition of a stool sample."

Austin has gained weight. About 15lbs. All muscle but mostly lower body and core. He just started listing upper body a couple of weeks ago. By all accounts he is doing EXTREMELY well in practice. I was told if he can stay healthy he has a high NBA chance. We will see lol. I've always thought that about him.
He's loving Wichita. I think he will be special. But I've known him for awhile now and have never seen him not do what he says he will do. He's entertaining to watch because of his style but don't be fooled by what looks like flashy stuff. He will rip your head off to beat you. He's a "whatever it takes" guy. I expect him to contribute a lot this season. Especially in conference.

It's not the same shoulder. Austin has his right shoulder operated on several years ago for the same problem. It has had no problems until just a couple weeks ago. Austin told me it was a freak thing and it didn't come all the way out. He isn't worried about it but he is sitting out for a couple weeks. He told me the left shoulder, which is the one he has missed the summer for, feels great. I think he will be fine. It is something he has dealt with his whole life. I think it is fixed for good but you may get a few scares like this over his career.
Doctor says it's the way he is built. Austin is very elastic lol.

One of my best friends growing up played for Oklahoma St and Arkansas. He had the same problem as Austin. His shoulder came out a lot in High school. He had the same surgery. It came out on him once against Texas as a freshman and it came out on him once in Madison Square Garden as a sophomore. He had no problems with it for the final 2 1/2 years of his career.
It's just something he will have to deal with. But he's tough. I wouldn't worry about it much

This injury of Austin's sounds like a subluxation of the shoulder. This is a partial separation where the shoulder doesn't come out completely. I had surgery for this 30 years ago and have not had a problem since. In fact, prior to the surgery I would occasionally sleep with the shoulder in this partial separation position. I would occasionally have it come out while playing basketball but mine was so loose it was more an inconvenience than an injury that prevented me from playing.

Coach has mentioned his worry about staying healthy as well. How much risk is there do you think? WSU has a great staff for getting (and keeping) guys healthy and strong. Hopefully that will lower the risks.
