VCU should also be included in your question. They're better off Han St. John's but the Atlantic 10 is rarely mentioned as a Major.

The author definitely lost credibility with his "major" conference breakdown.

The Big East and Atlantic 10? Please.

Actually the Big East and A-10...nah, just kidding. I agree with you.

IMO the Big East qualifies as a "major" NCAA Basketball Conference; superior to the SEC and close in "quality" to the PAC 12.

My intent was not to debate the Major Programs in college basketball, but was to provide a link on what someone from outside our normal media outlets perspective was, on the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament. I particularly liked his impression:

"LSU versus Wichita State will be a battle between upcoming stars Antonio Blakeney (LSU) and Markis McDuffie (Wichita State). With Simmons gone from Baton Rouge and the VanVleet, Baker duo gone from Wichita, Blakeney and McDuffie are the new leaders of their respective teams. The Battle 4 Atlantis could be the coming out party on national television for both studs."

He thinks that McDuffie will become one of our team leaders this year and has an opinion that he will have an opportunity to show what he is made of on national media outlets.

The "major" label is asinine. You're either a crony P5 with a massive warchest, or you're not. That is the line in the sand.

Gregg's got 3.3M ways each year to ponder his mid-major-ness.

                          2. Ill ST - best talent 1-12 though
                          3. SIU - the valley is so bad that this is possible
                          4. Loyola - no
                          5. UNI - yes, but really #2 or #3 though because let's be real
                          6. EU - because everyone has forgotten what they look like without Mock and Ballentine. Probably better swap them with ISUb...
                          7. MSU - how many years can they be competing for Thursday before the madness ends
                          8. Drake - yep, Thursday
                          9. ISU - isnt Lansing still there? LOLoyola at 4 and ISUb at 9? Hmmm
                          10. BU - yep, Thursday

I think you are spot on about MSU. I am almost in a position where the best thing is to root against this team so that they have to make a coaching change. Winning 19 or 20 games and finishing 5th or so is probably the worst case scenario. We either need to break through and get top 3 or finish 10th and then the "madness ends."

Worst Case scenario is losing to that d-3 girls college.

Realistically 19 or 20 is what you should get with that POS schedule Lusk put together. He's gonna get canned no matter what, he should have at least gone out with a solid schedule and died on his sword than to slaughter some d-3 trash then get hosed by the top 2/3 of the Valley in conference play and still get fired.
