I have no reason to believe that we will, but can't stop thinking about how we will be skewered if we lose on Friday as much as we are getting positive press now. It will be hung over our head for a while.

This board is also starting to sound unreasonably confident. Reminds me of right after we crushed LSU and before Louisville. I keep having to remind myself that 'Dayton will not be an easy game'.

Markis has the right attitude as does the team, I can guarantee you. They see Dayton as a high major team. They will be ready. Get through Dayton and the pressure is off.

I am confident that the team will get it done. While we have no seniors contributing significant minutes on the court, I don't think I can think of better leaders to have that know the drill. We also have a lot of quality tourney experience in Shaq, Brown, Kelly, McDuffie and Frankamp, who carried KU when they lost to Stanford... Add Shamet, Willis, Smith, and Nurger. I am comfortable, but nervous. Just ready for the talk to stop and tip this ***** off!

No doubt Dayton is good enough to take out the Shockers. If we lose I think we'll be quickly forgotten and swept away by the numerous other storylines the tournament generates. Dayton beating the Shockers won't be the craziest upset if it happens.

Valid point, Prez, and there's no doubt a loss would be a big embarrassment. And Dayton has plenty of motivation, too. Fortunately, "we" (as in ShockerNet) have nothing to do with the outcome of the game, and the "we" as in the team and coaches -- for those who like to talk as if SNers are included in them or them in us -- almost certainly are focused and operating with exactly the right attitude. No way 3G will allow overconfidence to be a problem. The Shocks will NOT be looking ahead.

The hype trail is real. I'm a little leery of it as well.
My concern is that Dayton is an NCAA darling now. With the First Four in Dayton and UD having played in the First Four already, the NCAA has invested a lot of money in the Dayton brand.
