  • Wichita State is an impressive 25-4 but has only beaten one team 97th or better in the RPI. When the NCAA tournament selection committee convened in New York last March, assessing Wichita State was one of its toughest decisions. On one hand, the Shockers boasted only one victory over a team 68th or better in the RPI, hardly the typical resume of an at-large contender.

Pretty good overall article. Though I have to laugh at the "Top 97" references. Come on now.. Let us have the good break that CSU squeaked in to the top 100

Maybe more so since it was on the road.

Think you're right on this. Tim regularly finishes in the top third in accuracy among the bracketmatrix crowd, and was top 10 a couple years ago.
P.S. I'm not Tim or related to him.

Didn't take long for him to get called out on it on Twitter.
You miss 100% of the shots you don't take....

.....but, statistically speaking, you miss 99% of the shots you do take.

          • The "Top 97" thing was really arbitrary from Eisenberg. He's one of the best out there though, along with Luke Winn of SI and John Gasaway at ESPN. I'd have to search, but he's typically pretty complimentary of us on Twitter.

They're admittedly a sore bunch over there. WSU is doing things and has done things in the Valley that they aren't sniffing in the BIG EAST.

I smell a whole lot of butthurt and insecurity with little ol WSU sneaking up on them in the polls in one of their most historic years ever.
                Deuces Valley.
                ... No really, deuces.

A weak bubble candidate this year. I dislike sCUm fans. Hope they get blown out game one of the tourney.

Apparently "every conceivable metric" to at least one CU fan is the RPI.

I don't think many CU posters are aware that other metrics exist outside of RPI.

                      Really. I'm not kidding.

You certainly don't have to bank on it; it's simply a reasonable assumption, historically.

WSU has won 9 games in the tourney the past 4 years; CU has won just 12 in their entire history, and to count to 9 tourney wins one needs to go back to 1964.

                          • Lunardi said he didn't believe any team with a sub .500 record in conference should be eligible for an at large berth. Bless him.
