    MaxPreps has him at 165.

    ESPN has him at 170.

Verbal Commits has him at 180.

Kerry Rosenboom has him in need of attention.

Right now Austin is physically much more like Jake Odom than Ron Baker. Odom was listed at 6-4, 180 as a Senior at Indiana State. Ron is listed at 6-4, 210 this year.

Hard to say where Austin will end up.

    • Here's my prediction: Keep the Generals happy (Lynn and Gregg) and let him hire who the hell he wants as an assistant. Then tell him he can't win without Fred and Ron. Finally tell him ISUR is the best team in the league.

Then sit back and watch the legend continue to grow

I wasn't aware that he could not hire who the hell he wants as an assistant. Are you suggesting he wanted Jans and was overruled? People are already implying that he may not be able to win, or at least win big without Fred and Ron. I predict he will be told that ILS is the best team in the league when next season's preseason poll of the coaches and media is released.

        • I had been encouraged by the posts I had been reading about DS. Today I looked at his season
stats and they just were NOT very impressive - not what I was expecting from a quality juco player
playing against lesser competition. Based on the stats I saw I just don't see him in the PG mix next
year. I am always happy to be proven wrong by players I question. I questioned TT and EH early on
when almost everyone was getting overly excited about them - you can check my posts. CJK is
the newcomer that intrigues me. Not suppose to have an outside shot but extremely athletic who
likes to play defense. If he can take care of the ball, drive, see the court and dish he could be the
surprise we need, but I think we will be in good hands with multiple players who can handle the ball. I
think our three point shooting improves significantly next year but our defense will not be as
dominant. We will win the valley and dance again. Of this I feel confident.

          • Three questions for 2016-17

            1. How will the Shockers score?
It is disturbing to consider Wichita State’s scoring struggles against some of the top teams this season, and then consider that Ron Baker, Anton Grady and Fred VanVleet won’t return. WSU needs several scorers to emerge. It could start with Shaq Morris playing more minutes and newcomer Darral Willis adding offense from the post.
WSU’s offensive efficiency ranking of No. 94 by kenpom.com is its lowest since his second team ranked No. 151 in 2008-09.

            2. What’s the schedule look like?
Wichita State declined to take an exhibition tour last summer, instead planning to use it this summer to give an inexperienced team time to practice and bond.
The marquee games include a trip to the Bahamas in November for the Battle 4 Atlantis, a field that includes Michigan State, Louisville, Baylor, LSU, VCU, Saint John’s and Old Dominion. WSU plays Oklahoma in Oklahoma City and at Colorado State. Tulsa, Saint Louis and South Dakota State visit Koch Arena.

            3. Who will challenge Wichita State in the MVC?
Northern Iowa’s showing in the NCAA Tournament stamps the Panthers as a contender, although they must also replace key seniors such as Wes Washpun and Matt Bohannon. Illinois State is also a possibility with the players such as Paris Lee, MiKyle McIntosh and Deontae Hawkins returning.

This may be a good season for the Shockers to rebuild. Twelve of the MVC’s top 20 scorers and nine of the 10 All-MVC picks were seniors.

            A look at the newcomers:

            ▪ Guard Daishon Smith (6-foot-1) earned All-Panhandle Conference honors for Tallahassee (Fla.) Community College. He averaged 16.2 points, making 41.7 percent of his shots and 37 percent of his threes, for Tallahassee (21-12). He averaged 5.4 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 3.3 turnovers.

            ▪ Pearl River (Miss.) Community College forward Darral Willis (6-8) was named to the All-Region 23 and All-MACJC South Division teams. He averaged 18.4 points and 10.4 rebounds for the Wildcats (16-9), making 59 percent of his shots and 75.3 percent of his free throws.

            ▪ Guard C.J. Keyser (6-4) of Brewster (N.H.) Academy is listed as a three-star prospect by ESPN.com and 247sports.com.

            ▪ Cedar Ridge (Ark.) guard Austin Reaves (6-4) averaged around 33 points, 11 rebounds and 7.5 assists in leading his team to the Class 3A title. Reaves, who plans to sign with WSU when the signing period begins on April 13, scored 56 or more four times, according to the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, with a high 73 against Forrest City in a 117-115 triple-overtime win in December.

            • Concerning the Ewing Theory. Can't deny the numerous cases in which a team did better after the star player got hurt or for various reasons was not with the team. Best example being of course, our own 1st Final 4 Run.

But, I also think there are significant differences which are being overlooked and/or glossed over concerning Fred and Ron's departure and how offensively, the team will be better off without them.. First of all, we are losing two stars, and not just one Ewing. And no one ever accused Ewing of being a team player.

Never heard a single comment ever that Fred or Ron were ball hogs or looking to glorify their reputation which is easily evidenced by their total number of assists.

The fact is that the ball usually ended up, with 7 or less seconds left on the shot clock after being repeatedly passed around, back in their hands for a variety of reasons. Such as their team mates had no shot, were unwilling to take the shot, could not advance to the basket. Or they took and made the shot (rare) or were wide open and missed the shot. Some have stated the excuse that perhaps the younger players were intimidated and by Fred and Ron. Perhaps they were initially, but this should have significantly subsided as the season went on and they gained confidence.

Or could the problem have been that they simply were not shooting well or could not penetrate the opposing team's defense in the games we lost, which Fred and Ron were likewise having trouble doing?

How many times has the comment been made on this same board that Fred (and Ron) made every player better, but for some reason this now seems to have changed and STICKYFINGERS appeared on the scene few weeks back, after a couple of losses and seemed to have caught on.

Have no doubt that their replacements will continue making their team mates better as well, and with another years experience behind them, we should naturally see an overall improvement in our returning players.

There is nothing I would like more than the 2016/17 team to be better in all aspects than our present team as evidenced, I guess by the most significant denominator, a deeper run in the NCAA.

But, truthfully, I will be amazed, happily amazed, at that outcome.

You can draw any conclusion you want from my statement. I will leave it at that.

I could not find his weight for you, but I found this.

                  • Daishon Smith is a viable candidate to begin the year as the starting point guard. He has a lot of skills and maybe the comparison the Ragland is a good one. However, if you remember, Rags had a difficult beginning in his WSU career and didn't break in as a starter until the end of the year.

Daishon's only statistical weakness is his turn over numbers. Coach dislikes turnovers. Conner does not turn the ball over. As I said previously, Conner has as much of a chance to play point guard as anyone else. Landry could also be added to the group of possible starters.

Just a feeling that I have without much to back it up. I have a feeling that Landry and Conner are planning and have set their goals and sights on next year. They know the college game, the Shocker Way, the effort, demands, and the expectations necessary to be successful. This is an advantage they have over the others.

                    • Are we interested in any of the Hawaii players? They are free to transfer. Mega sanction coming down.

                        I'm interested in Stefan Jankovic.

                        • To what 1972 said. The Paradise Jam starts around November 20th and has several brand name teams (don't know who they all have coming back yet). Like this year, it comes early in the non-con and I wonder how quickly we will gel as a team. Throw in a few other competitive games early and our W/L record may look a little rough going into MVC play. Do we repeat the same situation at tourney time that happened this year? Obviously who the hell knows at this point.

In an ironic twist of fate, we win in STL to get into the tourney and suddenly embrace the auto-bid :stung:

I heard the discussion about sanctions against Hawaii and thought the same thing.

Weird that he could possibly be going to his third university soon.

                              • I think we give the coaches a chance to develop the kids we have. Maybe we will have 14 "scholarship" quality players with our 13. I think they play looser, faster, and will surprise a lot of people. Think of the length and speed. They just need to work very hard this summer and push each other to be able to MAKE the tough shots next year. If they can each improve their weaknesses over the summer, Wow just Wow. I predict a great year next year. No rebuilders for us!
