If the Shox only get an NIT bid, my prediction is that they'll fold like a cheap tent. RB and FVV will have no interest finishing out their careers in that fashion and would rather start focusing on NBA skills development for pre-draft workouts.

Originally posted by WSUwatcher View PostBy the way, singeril, who is the Marquis of Wins, anyway? I believe "marquee" is the term you're looking for.
And yes, the UNIs did have more big wins than WSU did -- but it's no accident that WSU finished FIVE games ahead of them in the Valley and has much better metrics as well as a better record and even a better RPI, for those who like antiques. They just happen to be a tough matchup for the Shocks, and Jacobson is a good coach and tactician; but riddle me this: would you rank Loyola ahead of the UNIs because of their season sweep over them? Yes, that's right: the same Loyola against whom WSU was 3-0 with only one close game turns out to have been a tough matchup for the UNIs. Things like that happen, but they aren't necessarily a basis for generalization.
I think Marquis is correct, a nobleman ranking as opposed to a billboard.
mar·quis
ˈmärkwəs,märˈkē/
noun
noun: marquis; plural noun: marquises
- (in some European countries) a nobleman ranking above a count and below a duke.
- another term for marquess.

CBS sports Garry Parrish podcast talks about WSU at-large chances for 24 minutes. They all say they would like to see WSU get in just to see people like Got-lube meltdown over their inclusion. In the end they asked two questions.
1. Is WSU good enough to be in the tournament?
2. Is WSU resume good enough to be in the tournament?
They all said WSU is probably a top 20 quality program, just things didn't work out resume wise. They love that the story of Lunardi vs Palm and will love to see how the story plays out over the week because they have taken polar opposites.
Answer to 2 is there resume is not good enough.
In the end it was 2-1 that WSU was going to get in, main reason is because of KenPom. The one thing they did say - WSU will be one of the most polarizing bubble teams ever and if they do get in the haters will be all over them.

This has now updated. In 70 of 86 brackets (81.4%) with an average seed of 9.87. Puts us as the 3rd 10 seed.
I am of the opinion, right now we are in, our main concern is serious bubble shrinkage. I'm waiting for Jamar to again address the cutline and who we have to worry about as bid thieves.

The way I look at it, we are about as likely to get a 7 seed as we are to not be in, both are the outliers. Are they possible? Yes, no one ever really knows exactly what the committee will do, but unlikely.

One of the things I don't really understand, is how they say our resume isn't good enough? I looked through the team sheets, we aren't clearly better but we also aren't clearly not good enough. I mean look at bracket matrix's first four out and next four out, a good deal of those teams have TERRIBLE resumes.
