IIRC we were a -1 or -2 dog when it opened and the line moved to have us as -1 or -2 favorite. Coin flip territory pretty much but still cool.

I heard the same horse $hit from KU friends and relatives. Pretty good people as long as we’re not in basketball season. A few days before the game last year they were all talkin’ smack predicting a 20+ curb stomping; they reminded me that they won the mighty Big 12 for the eleventh straight time. After we ‘curb-stomped’ them back to Lawrence, they said, “that was our worst team in 20+ years and we had all kinds of injuries during the season and Perry wasn’t healthy.” Of course a couple of them weren’t available for conversation until we lost to Notre Dame… then here they come again. “That was your ‘Super Bowl’ and that’s the reason we won’t play you during the regular season, you proved it when you lost your next game to Notre Dame.” “We just don’t ‘get-up’ when we play Mid-Majors like WSU”. “We’d still win 9 out of 10 games on a neutral court.” “You guys will make a free-fall after next year when you lose VanVleet and Baker.” “VanVleet and Baker still wouldn’t start on KU’s team." "Marshall will be gone when the next decent job opens..."

Those comments are just the tip of the iceberg.

Hey if you can be in a conference that's overrated, more power to you, right? Works for the SEC in football every single year when over half the league stinks. They're good at scheduling non-conference and getting their RPI up against good teams who are easy wins, that's why they're a 2 seed when they aren't that great.

Oubre didn't care last year. Neither did Seldon. Alexander was bad and took money. The rest of the team, outside of 50 year old Perry, was young and we had the talent, experience and balls to win. It was an average team that had no business being a 2 seed, but because they win their super conference 50 years in a row, have 'Kansas' on their shirts, are 28-4 and schedule well they get one. We beat them, great. But some of you are more excited and care more about that win than the Final Four appearance it seems. I see more bottom line quotes and t-shirts in town about the KU game than the Final Four anymore. It's pathetic. It's K-State football stuff. "We beat a team we had no business beating so here's a t-shirt". It's belittling the win. Where are the "We beat Ohio State in the Elite 8" shirts? I'm not devaluing the win here. It's great to get to the Sweet 16 no matter what. But just because it was KU everyone here treats it like a Super Bowl and that's why you guys get so butt hurt when anyone like myself doesn't treat it as such. And especially why the next quote gets so mad when KU fans bring it up.

You must associate with some pretty stupid KU fans. All the ones I know and work with knew they were screwed when we were in their Round of 32 game. FVV would easily start for KU, so would Ron. Only the ignorant KU fans don't think that. Frankamp was their best player two years ago in their exit game. Even better than #1 pick Wiggins. Also, KU fans say that kind of "that was your Super Bowl" stuff when KSU beats them too, so I wouldn't put too much stock into it. Pretty lazy, cliche excuses coming from most of their bandwagon fans. Just take the loss and deal with it like real fans do, KU fans. Not like losing to us was anywhere near as embarrassing as all the other early round exits they've had in the tournament. Some of you need to stop getting mad at these KU fans and just start laughing at them. They're stupid and we know it. So why does it get you so mad?
