Fred's hammy is still bothering him. Hence why he's unable to finish at the rim this year and Ron's obviously got a sprained wrist (and tired legs). We will probably run the table to finish out the regular season which should be more than enough to garner at least a 9 seed.
Honestly, if any MVC coach doesn't play exclusively zone against WSU from here on, they should probably be fired. Team is struggling and shooting poorly, to,say the least. Concerned about Shocks' ability to close out the reg season and MVC tourney. Just hope they figure it out by the Big Dance...if they make it.

Typically speaking, losing a lot of close games has to do with luck instead of some "will to win". Especially when you've shot as poorly as we have.

But I thought we were on the outside looking in?

          • I'm telling you folks. The rule of 1. Believe in it. The Shox have 1 more loss to give. Win the next 5 and it becomes impossible to lose more than 1 and the Shox are locked in with a bid.

(I don't want to say this too loudly, but a loss tonight, and then winning out until a loss in the MVC championship, and WSU might still get in anyway. I don't want to try that route, but just sayin')

Now, back to your regularly scheduled fretting.

            • It finally dawned on me. I'm quite upset about the last 2 losses, but I think I have figured out why. We as fans know this team is so much better than what they are showing. I truly believe as long as this team gets into the NCAAs, it has just as good a chance at going to Houston as the rest of the field. To see this team struggle and lose to far inferior competition is maddening, but the looming missed chance of the NCAA is what really bothers us fans. This is one of the best teams WSU has had in quite some time. No, its not 35-0, maybe not even Final 4 good, but being 3rd on that list isnt bad. Outside of zone offense, our biggest perceived weakness is where? In the Post. Check the games our posts had against other 'big time post players'. This team can compete with anyone in the country, I for one am starting to worry they wont get the chance. Yes I believe WSU is still in. Yes I do believe JH4P that WSU is in with only 1 more loss. But there are no more gimmies with the way WSU is playing right now.

I may be alone, but the two teams that would scare me the most would be in the Elite 8. I know UNC is good, but for some reason, I think we would dominate their guards, which would make it pretty difficult for their bigs to do much.

It must be fun to be so optimistic that you can watch WSU lose to ISU and UNI and immediately turn around and talk about how easily WSU would slide right past Florida and UNC.

As crazy as it sounds, it's been that kind of year in college basketball. UNI beat the KenPom #7 UNC and #15 Iowa State (as it stands currently) and lost to #227 Missouri State, #182 Loyola, and #147 Indiana State.

Yup, we also just lost AT HOME to a team we beat at their place by 19 ... figure that one out lol. Selection Sunday should be renamed Dartboard sunday this year.

WSU has a lot of work to do and a lot of BIG beatdowns to lay the next 8 teams it faces before I will have any confidence going into the dance. If we get back to smoking people and the Redbirds and Panthers are part of that group, I will be happy. Obviously we will face Illinois State again on senior night, and there's a good chance we will see UNI in St. Louis depending on how the bracket falls. If we go 8-0 or 7-1 and look strong doing it, I'll be ready to insult Florida and UNC again :) but the jury is still out.

                        • Fear no one but respect everyone. Most important game of the year is tonight. Win it and Thursday
nights game becomes the most important game. So on and so on.

                          • For me, just getting in is my #1 goal for us right now. If we can restore our winning ways over the next few weeks and start to feel like our seat at the table is more secure, then my goal #2 for us is avoiding any "virtual" road games in the opening weekend. It is difficult enough to take out a 1 or 2 seed on a neutral court, but that job becomes much harder when it is less than 50 miles from their campus.

Villanova in Brooklyn? Kansas in St. Louis or Des Moines? Not the greatest setup, but fine. Oklahoma in OKC, UNC in Raleigh, Iowa in Des Moines, etc.? Ugh, no thank you. We can still win those, but you are basically giving them an extra 5-6 points in an already difficult matchup courtesy of venue.

                            • After Wichita State lost to Illinois State, coach Gregg Marshall wrote “NIT” on the dry erase board in the Koch Arena film room.

                              No explanation needed.
Hopefully the shox are now shocked back into focus

Did somebody say something about how easily WSU would slide right past someone? I just said that the two teams that would scare the most would be teams we would meet in the Elite 8. That doesn't mean we would slide past anyone. It just means that the teams I think we would have the least chance against are teams we would match up against in the Elite 8. Take off your condescending hat for a minute and read before you decide to go all ShockRef and jump on somebody.
