      Bingo.

So long as my team gets in, I hope the committee does a terrible job and we get to play some crappy teams.

Part of it probably depends on who you have them beating. If they lose to KU and ISU, I feel pretty confident they don't get in.

I think what you mean, kai, is that when it comes time to play for A SPOT in the round of 16, Creighton automatically says, "Bye."

I'll give them their due; they've been better than I expected this year. But I sure wouldn't mind seeing them matched up against WSU in the first round, although I think that run of road games they have ahead is likely to prevent it from happening. And our old pal Jeff ******* and I don't think WSU will be in the first round of the NIT to encounter the Jayboys there.

Looks like the Selection Committee, as they do every year, will be conducting a "Mock Tournament Selection". Some highlights:

Ultimately, looks like good news for the Shocks.
I've meant to post this about 15 different times since I first heard it in late November or early December since I haven't seen anyone put it elsewhere.

On an Andy Katz podcast during that timeframe, the quotes from him were:

"I asked Joe Castiglione personally since I didn't want to say it if it wasn't correct"

              and

"I asked him if Wichita State would be penalized for the losses without Van Vleet and other circumstances in Orlando, and he told me that they would absolutely be evaluated as the team that they would be entering the tournament"

The words and phrasing may not be exact, but the sentiment was VERY clear - the committee would be evaluating the Shocks at full strength, assuming that's the team that would be playing in the tournament.

              • So, in this "mock draft" for the tourney they are doing right now, they have Texas on the #4 seed line...wtf!?!?

It's pretty much just a **** show anymore.

Edit: and Utah as a #4 seed as well...

                    • Jamar, can you please breakdown LSU? Lunatic has them as a NINE seed. I'm trying to understand how this is humanly possible. They are 15-9, have an RPI of 79, a non-con SOS of 200, a home loss to Wake Forest, losses to Houston and Marquette. Their claim to fame is their one lone home win over Kentucky.

Can you explain to me how a resume like that deserves to even be sniffing the tournament, let alone getting a freaking NINE seed? Or is this just the simple case of screwing the rewarding of the most deserving teams and an NCAA plea to get Ben Simmons into the tournament?

                      I'm flabbergasted here.

Lunardi. Is. Not. Good. At. His. Job.

LSU is very squarely on the bubble. An 11 seed at best.

                        • WSU was placed in the 28 line on the S Curve during the Mock Selection. There were 16 At-Large selections below them (WSU was placed in as the AQ from the MVC, so no discussion of their at-large resume)

                          • That's right about where I thought we might end up (as of today). Obviously we have the chance to improve and if we win out, I definitely see a 5 or 6.

                              • My simplistic math states that after the 32 autos, there are 21 ahead of us. So, as long as there aren't 15 "upsets" (although this is conservative; some upsets may not result in a two bid conferece) we should be in. Not worried; at least today. (68 teams -53 ahead of our potential at large bid)
