Gonzaga just made the NCAA Tournament for the 18th consecutive season. Fourth longest streak in the country.

    • Vegas odds makers absolutely should have an input - especially regarding bubble teams.
For example, if in their view, we would be a five point favorite on a neutral court versus
St. Mary's that should be a major consideration. I sincerely believe we would be a
favorite over ALL bubble teams on a neutral court.

Not affiliated with The Rag at all.
Also, take this for what it's worth:

        1. Andrew Logue isn't a UNI beat writer. The Rag is 2 hours from Cedar Falls. Not too many places send guys 2 hours to do beat work for a home game. He's simply a pro-UNI guy
        2. Andrew Logue also covered Drake this year - I believe he saw more Drake games in person than UNI games
        3. The Rag didn't even send anyone to Arch Madness. The story they used for their website/print edition was a story by a Southern Illinois student reporter which had wrong names on photo captions.
        4. The Rag ignores UNI except when it wants to find a story to tear down UNI's athletic budget, in which they ignore 100% of the actual facts. So much so that UNI has actually cut media access off to the Rag multiple times. Going back to the S16 season the Rag hadn't sent a person to one UNI game all year and then requested access for multiple people in the S16. They were told no and they threw a major fit about it on TV and in print.

Just for some extra insight into that article/tweet/writer. You can do as you wish with it.

As for the conference affiliation thing, I have some insight from the UNI side - especially with a new AD in town - that would be interesting to see WSU's reaction on. Though I'm not sure this is the thread for it. UNI is much closer to WSU's thoughts on the conference than you want to believe, difference is UNI has learned not to bite the "hand the feeds" so to speak without having a landing spot already in place. If what I'm hearing is true there could be a shake up in the next few years

I think you guys are arrogant homers to the nth degree, but to a large extent it's been earned. I'll keep my thoughts on Marshall to myself. However, this place is a fun read.

Oh, but you're totally spot on with Casey's General Store being a major player in the conspiracy to keep WSU down...

They were a borderline team going into the Big East Tournament, as they had a .500-or-so Big East record and middle-of-the-pack conference finish. However, UConn made a surprising run to win the Big East Tournament, thus giving the Huskies a 3 seed in the NCAA.

Yet, if Kemba Walker hadn't received Michael Jordan treatment in Hawaii, WSU would have beaten UConn (I'm still pissed about a block foul that JT or Gabe got that could have been a charge, which would have been Kemba's fourth foul midway through the second half). Even if WSU ended up losing to both Michigan State in the next round and Washington in the 3rd place game (and who is to say that WSU couldn't have pulled out one of those games), our resume would have looked so much better with that than a non-counting game against Chaminade and a win against still-building Virginia.

Why do you only react to the negative articles? You're always silent on the other ones.

This shouldn't be a surprise since this same guy had been saying for weeks that WSU had to win out to make it. He certainly isn't gonna change his stance now. He's just gonna regurgitate the same nonsense over and over.

And for the record, he stated he thought WSU should be in. Fugg.

That resume is not better than ours.

I feel pretty comfortable we are currently in. The bubble has had as terrible of a week as possible so far, hopefully it starts improving today.

                  • In 2006, we had a worse non-conference resume but the conference was of better quality. Our overall SOS was 79, we went 24-9 overall, won the league regular season, but lost in the conference tournament semi-finals. While it's certainly an apples to oranges comparison any time you are crossing years, the unrelenting talk all year was how "down" college basketball is overall. The number one ranked team turned over nearly every week. So if we were a 7 seed in 2006, I find it difficult to believe we are completely out in 2016, regardless of how crappy the Valley is. We won the regular season by several games. (Although only managing to score just over 50 points the other day was anything but encouraging.)

If you need a lift with all this negativity, just think of the difference ten years makes. Despite having an unquestionably underwhelming resume and leaving itself open to criticism and exclusion, WSU's tournament status is the most talked about college basketball subject at the moment. There are respectable national media folks who are trying to imagine how we could have this tournament without WSU - and its start players - in it. We are actually trading on name. If you sat through any games in the 1990s, that fact alone is dumbfounding.

From what I've been seeing, many of the "pundits" see it as a play-in game. I personally hate the idea of Syracuse getting in after all the sh!t they've pulled, but I'll wait for Jamar to tell me if Pitt winning is best for the Shocks before I make a real decision who to cheer for.
