WSU Versus Southern Illinois Predictions and Pregame Discussions
MSNSaluki is a Saluki fan in name only. He did not attend SIU, actually is a SEMO graduate. At one time he was sportswriter for Carbondale paper, but no longer. He has apparently never gotten over that. He would (and has) argued that SIU did not get reamed by the refs in the Kansas Sweet 16 game. He is generally a thorn in the side of real Saluki fans. 99.9% of our fanbase actually likes SIU.
Do you guys remember when the former administrators for each of our boards got together and switched sites for April Fool's Day? That was classic stuff. I opened up Saluki Talk and was on Shockernet. :)
We do have very talented and funny people on our board. There are always a lot of laughs. Of course, humor is all we've had for a while. It's hard to cheer for a bunch of bike thieves and academic misfits who go 10-21 every year.
I wish I was selling my team short. You'll see tomorrow.
The made up banners thread on one of the sites was one of the most entertaining threads on any board.
Anyone who doesn't think that we will get SIU and everyone else's best shot (at home but especially on the road) is dreaming. If you predicted an easy win, you need to rethink it.

I know it was a low point in your program but you guys really know how to pull out all the stops. It was solid entertainment for an outsider.
Salukitalk is easily my favorite opposing board to read at. A LOT of activity, even in trying times. A good dose of realism mixed in with homerism and some great zingers and wit. And overall, a pretty intelligent fanbase. I don't think we've ever had any problems with Saluki fans on here. Ever.
It's good to see SIU relevant again. You may argue the definition of "relevant" but first place is on the line 2 weeks into the season. When's the last time you guys could say that? Beane is a really fun player to watch, especially when WSU is not involved. I think you're selling your team short. The game could go either way tomorrow. Home crowd, confidence, and a big playmaker can go a long way.
I think we have to realize that we are the Super Bowl for every team in the Valley. Such is life at the top of the mountain. Road games are tough, but we should prevail.
I do hope that SIU is starting to turn around. I look at their record and am hopeful anyway, but then there is that nagging SOS number. I am having a really hard time getting past that. Barry was on "The Drive" with Bob and Jeff yesterday. Good interview, as we have come to expect from Barry. He said his team and the fans will be up for this game. Go in there, hit them in the mouth and step on their necks. This is one of those games that if you let them hang around and think they have a chance, things could go bad. Leave no doubt Shockers!

LMAO! Bike thieves.
Go Dawgs!
"Prediction is very difficult, especially if it is about the future."
If you throw out the word "very" this is a true statement. We are certainly more beatable this year than the last two. However, teams will have to bring their "A" games to do it. Then again, the more wins we string together, the more confident our players become, the less beatable we become. Big game today.
During the Dawgs' take no prisoners days, they always broke my heart.
I remember game after game, where I would get my hopes up that we would finally win a game. Then came crunch time and I would go home dishearten again.

I agree, but this is not a new phenomenon. We have been for several years. If we lose any road games this year, it will be because we played poorly and someone else had a couple of guys with career games. It won't be because we don't realize we are everybody's Super Bowl.

It's nice to have you weenies in town! Already talked to a nice group of Shocker fans this morning. Every visit my family makes to WSU, people are nice and welcoming. Bradley.... not so much. I love this league.
